Requirements
  • RNs hired on or after July 1, 2016, must graduate from a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within six years of hire into an RN position.
  • An active, unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse license or a valid participating compact license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required upon hire.
  • Employees must obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for their assigned roles.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.
  • Colleagues must understand computers and demonstrate competence using computers and basic software programs.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments.
  • Develop patient plans of care using Clinical Pathways.
  • Direct and deliver patient care for adult and geriatric patient groups.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Identify and correct variances from the patient's Clinical Pathway.
  • Complete discharge planning.
  • Maintain expertise in cardiac and other monitoring equipment.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Perform documentation audits to ensure consistency and compliance with standards.
  • Communicate and document patient and family learning needs.
  • Complete thorough physical assessments at admission.
  • Prioritize care and solve problems in response to changes in patient status or condition.
  • Manage medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products.
  • Use a pain scale during pain assessments.
  • Provide psychological and social support to patients and families.
  • Monitor patients' medical conditions and report changes.
  • Update patient status in the electronic medical record from admission to the cath lab through post-procedure care and whenever the nursing process indicates a change.
  • Complete the interdisciplinary profile.
  • Initiate and update the Clinical Pathway.
  • Use department medical equipment appropriately.
  • Document nursing interventions, patient responses, and changes in patient condition in the electronic record.
  • Interpret and communicate basic laboratory and diagnostic data and communicate results to the provider.
  • Report safety-related incidents promptly through the Midas/RDE tool.
  • Attend required safety-related training programs and perform work in a safe manner.
  • Monitor the work environment for potential safety issues and ensure others perform work safely.
  • Comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies.
  • Keep required certifications and licenses current and valid before their expiration dates.
  • Complete mandatory company modules and job-specific training within the specified time frame.
  • Maintain responsibility for patients during transfer from the cath lab to the nursing unit and provide a report to the receiving registered nurse.
Desired Qualifications
  • CVRN and/or CCRN certification is preferred.
  • Cath Lab or Critical Care experience is preferred.
