Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of management experience within the manufacturing industry is required.
  • Knowledge of operations within the packaging industry is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of Food and Drug Administration guidelines is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the corrugated and/or packaging industry is required.
  • Solid financial knowledge, production management, and warehouse inventory control experience are required.
  • Excellent people skills in communication, leadership, coaching, and discipline are required.
  • The ability to quickly analyze a situation and act is required.
  • The ability to lead people and achieve results through others is required.
  • The ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span is required.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all operations run safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Oversee daily production operations and assigned areas, monitor efficiency and safety, ensure regulatory requirements are followed, develop production schedules, and oversee production staff.
  • Provide leadership for assigned departments to meet company objectives for cost, customer service, quality, profitability, and employee well-being.
  • Monitor and assist regional safety efforts while adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company guidelines.
  • Analyze department practices, procedures, and plans to identify improvements considering employee well-being, profitability, Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines, customer expectations, and company strategy.
  • Oversee quality control, machine performance expectations, material specifications, material specification compliance, and customer-acceptable finished goods.
  • Communicate frequently with peers and work teams and participate in production and customer complaint meetings.
  • Establish reports and reporting structures needed to meet expectations effectively.
  • Evaluate the need for additional equipment, recommend equipment purchases, and prepare capital expenditure justifications.
  • Prepare and manage the financial plan and actual expenses for areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure maintenance of facilities, grounds, utilities, and equipment.
  • Develop and monitor long-term plans to communicate company strategy to responsible areas and establish clear goals and objectives.
  • Implement Lean concepts throughout operations to reduce waste and increase efficiencies.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient organizational structure by selecting, training, mentoring, and appraising employees, including delegating and reassigning duties.
  • Manage and report the status of the Operations Scorecard.
  • Communicate frequently with direct reports and their work teams and participate in production and customer complaint meetings.
  • Perform assigned additional duties.
  • Work safely, comply with company Good Manufacturing Practices, and maintain quality work and products.
  • Work primarily in production and warehouse settings, with time also spent in an office setting.
  • Travel occasionally.
