Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least one year of management experience in dementia care is required.
  • At least one year of supervisory and management experience, including hiring staff, coaching, performance management, daily operations supervision, discipline, and counseling, is required.
  • Knowledge of all applicable government regulations is required.
  • Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of older adults is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and compassion for older adults are required.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and practice a person-centric philosophy and culture of caring within the Memory Care Program.
  • Provide physical and emotional support to each Memory Care resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home-like environment.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall Memory Care Program.
  • Supervise, train, and coach Memory Care staff.
  • Partner with the Executive Director by establishing nurturing relationships with families and the community.
  • Design, schedule, and facilitate Memory Care programming with a comprehensive and varied activities program for residents' interests and capabilities.
  • Partner with the Living Well Coordinator, when applicable, to ensure appropriate activities are available throughout the day and evening seven days a week and that the Memory Care Director and Resident Assistants are actively engaged.
  • Provide ongoing in-service education and training to Memory Care staff regarding the disease process and population served.
  • Partner with the Wellness Director to ensure residents' clinical needs are addressed.
  • Review each resident's preferences and needs before move-in and educate the entire Memory Care team.
  • Facilitate service plan and daily assignment sheet development to support service delivery, safety, hydration, and resident engagement.
  • Partner with dining services to meet individual resident needs and preferences and participate in the dining experience.
  • Recognize resident changes in condition and take appropriate action.
  • Establish a cooperative relationship with the local Alzheimer's Association chapter or other Alzheimer's advisory organizations.
  • Ensure monthly family support group meetings are planned and facilitated.
  • Coordinate assessments, ongoing evaluations, and family care conferences with the Executive Director and Wellness Director.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Director on staffing schedules.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, and training for frontline staff.
  • Strive for excellent quality of care and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement plans of action to correct deficiencies and address regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current and evolving state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Assist the Executive Director in completing the annual community budget.
  • Manage the department budget, including labor and other expenses and their impact on the community's bottom line.
  • Review monthly financial statements and implement corrective plans for deficiencies.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities for the Memory Care care team, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, directing work, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
