Nasdaq has launched agentic AI capabilities within its Calypso platform to help financial institutions automate capital market and treasury operations. The platform now serves as an orchestration layer for AI agents, allowing banks, brokers, and asset managers to run and connect AI tools across trading, risk management, and collateral workflows. The agentic AI environment uses the Model Context Protocol to integrate AI agents whilst maintaining strict operational boundaries and data controls. Initial capabilities include a natural language assistant for querying platform data and documentation. A recent Nasdaq and Acuiti survey found that almost half of respondents cited manual intervention challenges in post-trade operations, whilst 56% feared losing competitive ground without AI integration. Nasdaq Calypso is hosted on Amazon Bedrock and will be available to both cloud and on-premises clients.
