Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Controls Engineers implementing regional line-control and line-simulation software.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate and consistent technologies and maintain new technologies system-wide as required.
  • Standardize, enhance, and improve the reliability of facility support equipment, including air compressors, dryers, regenerative thermal oxidizers, ovens, and vision systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programmable logic controller hardware and software standards for new and existing sites.
  • Ensure infrastructure is effective across regional facilities.
  • Drive the team to improve line-control and equipment systems to maximize asset utilization throughout the plant network.
  • Provide training to plant personnel on implementation and support of newly implemented systems.
  • Provide training on development software so plant personnel can perform modeling independently.
  • Establish and maintain programmable logic controller standards for new and existing sites and support new-site implementation as required.
  • Ensure the line-control team and site electricians are competent in programmable logic controller programming and establish relevant access rights.
  • Determine the rollout plan for site line control to maximize output across the plant network and select the appropriate line-control approach, from standard ladder logic to application instructions.

Two Luzerne County firms secure $860K in state energy grants to cut costs and emissions

Two Luzerne County businesses will receive more than $860,000 in state grants for energy efficiency projects. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded Ball Corporation $365,268 and A Rifken Company $495,000 through the RISE PA programme. Ball Corporation will install equipment to capture waste heat for manufacturing, projected to save approximately $75,697 annually. A Rifken Company will replace its solar system with one three times larger, expected to offset 30.4% of the facility's electricity consumption and save roughly $30,654 yearly. The awards form part of nearly $3.5 million distributed to 15 small businesses statewide. RISE PA is a $396 million emissions-reduction programme funded through the US Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants.

Ball reports Q2 2026 earnings up 14.4% with $1.03 diluted EPS, targets $900M free cash flow

Ball Corporation reported strong second quarter 2026 results, with comparable diluted earnings per share of $1.03, up 14.4% from 90 cents in 2025. Comparable operating earnings rose 7.7% to $433 million from $402 million year-over-year. Global aluminium packaging shipments increased 4.3% in the quarter. The company returned $222 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends in the first half of 2026, remaining on track to return at least $800 million by year-end. Ball expects comparable diluted earnings per share growth of more than 10% in 2026 and free cash flow exceeding $900 million. Second quarter sales reached $4.00 billion, compared to $3.34 billion in 2025.
