A Certified Veterinary Technician credential or board-eligible status is required.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia A requires 0–1 year of experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia B requires 2–3 years of experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia C requires 3–4 years of experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia D requires 5–8 years of experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia E requires 8+ years of experience and a Veterinary Technician Specialist credential or additional certifications.
Overnight and weekend on-call coverage is required once fully trained.
Responsibilities
Anesthetize small animals in inpatient, outpatient, critical, and non-critical cases.
Review each animal’s medical history.
Develop an appropriate anesthetic protocol for each patient.
Place intravenous catheters.
Perform physical examinations.
Induce, maintain, and recover anesthesia for the animal.
Oversee animal recovery and determine when an animal may return to its ward or be discharged.
Set up appropriate equipment for cases.
Communicate with clinicians regarding inpatient cases.
Maintain the flow of the daily schedule by starting cases at the appropriate times and communicating with clinicians.

Ryan Hospital has an ongoing need for Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia. This posting describes the basic responsibilities and requirements for this role. Job Description
This nurse is responsible for anesthetizing small animals including:
·inpatient, outpatient, critical and non-critical cases
·review the medical history of the animal
·develop an appropriate anesthetic protocol for each patient
·place IV catheter(s)
·perform physical exams
·induce, maintain, recover the animal
·oversee recovery of the animals and indicate when the animal is able to return to its ward or be discharged
This technician is also responsible for setting up appropriate equipment for cases, communication with clinicians regarding inpatient cases and maintaining the flow of the daily schedule by starting cases at the appropriate times and communicating with clinicians.
The position will be 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Overnight and weekend on call is required once fully trained.
