Requirements
  • Extensive experience designing pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical facilities for cGMP production of biological and pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Progressive ability in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and obtain cooperation from others.
  • Analytical thinking, structured problem-solving skills, superior communication skills, team building, and a strong work ethic.
  • A BEng (Hons) in Civil & Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status through MICE or IStructE.
  • Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively as part of a developing team to support business growth and high-quality projects.
  • Expertise in applying engineering design programs to computer-aided drafting.
  • Experience preparing preliminary and final design documents, including building structural layouts, specifications, schedules, calculations, structural grid designs, civil design for foundations and drainage, and overall site layouts such as roads.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and presence to deal effectively with senior-level contacts.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of CSA - EMEA with the utilisation, growth, and development of Civil & Structural professionals across the EMEA region.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables through quality assurance, quality control reviews, and technical audits.
  • Support business development with technical support, proposal generation, and work-hour estimates.
  • Apply appropriate Civil & Structural design resources and execution approaches to project requirements.
  • Support strategic company initiatives and innovation.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for specified Civil & Structural areas.
  • Support the Discipline GATEway initiative, control budget hours, build relationships with IPSM counterparts, and ensure quality delivery on every project.
  • Ensure alignment with global Civil & Structural procedures, standards, and software.
  • Implement the strategic direction set by the Director of CSA - EMEA.
  • Manage execution of work performed by the Civil & Structural team in EMEA.
  • Coordinate with Regional Senior Directors, Project Managers, and Proposal Managers to determine project scope, cost, complexity, planning, and scheduling requirements.
  • Assign appropriate personnel, in cooperation with the Director of CSA - EMEA, to provide cost-effective Civil & Structural design and technical support.
  • Implement cost-effective workflow processes and the appropriate level of design detail to achieve project goals.
  • Estimate work hours needed to generate project deliverables and support the design team.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and completeness of work in accordance with Civil & Structural engineering principles, IPS quality-management standards and procedures, applicable codes and ordinances, and project schedules.
  • Provide training, technical guidance, and administrative guidance and instruction to discipline personnel.
  • Support a Civil & Structural strategic business plan and technical and regulatory activities required to achieve long-range annual goals and objectives.
  • Support Civil & Structural Communities of Practice to promote continuous development of the Civil & Structural Framework.
  • Develop discipline policies, technical standards, and procedures, and assist with divisional and interdepartmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Liaise with other EMEA Directors and Associate Directors to ensure consistent project execution across IPS.
  • Drive innovation and new ways of delivering client value in alignment with artificial intelligence and the IPS Business Digital Transformation initiative.
  • Maintain connections with relevant industry bodies and trade groups and encourage professional-body participation for continuing professional development of Civil & Structural team members.
  • Support the Director of CSA - EMEA with hiring, performance appraisal, salary-position recommendations, and employee development for the EMEA Civil & Structural team.
  • Plan and schedule discipline work to distribute assignments and manpower effectively and provide required space and facilities.
  • Coordinate inter-office labor, work sharing, and consultant outsourcing, and act as the key liaison for Civil & Structural delivery partners across EMEA.
  • Evaluate and initiate discipline training to maintain technical competence, communication skills, and leadership development.
  • Determine labor, resource, and financial needs of the discipline.
  • Review productivity and quality reports regularly to maintain performance.
  • Participate in business development by seeking new projects with existing and prospective clients.
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of sales presentations and proposals.
  • Liaise with Discipline and Location Senior Directors to support technical compliance and development of IPS services.
  • Deliver projects and consultancy work as required.
  • Develop Civil & Structural design deliverables for feasibility and concept phases.
  • Support quality checking for basic and detail design to ensure compliance with design intent and the IPS Quality Management System.
  • Collaborate with Civil & Structural Design and Project Teams to execute successful project studies.
  • Develop Civil & Structural elements in compliance with cGMP, Building Regulations, permitting requirements, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with client counterparts to develop concepts for client projects.
  • Prepare or review construction budgets based on project experience and scope.
  • Travel to other IPS office locations and client sites to support projects and business objectives.
  • Facilitate Civil & Structural team meetings as required.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Assist the Director of CSA - EMEA in building the CSA offering in-house.
  • Support a smooth transition to the new organization by addressing employee and superior concerns and resistance.
  • Promote IPS visions and values within the organization.
