Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey is required.
  • Completion of a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner or advanced practice nurse program is required.
  • Eligibility for national certification as a nurse practitioner or advanced practice nurse through an approved certifying body is required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Creative problem-solving skills are required.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate as a licensed healthcare provider under a written collaborative agreement with a physician and credentialing through the Medical Staff Office.
  • Uphold professional standards as a member of the Medical Staff, including ethical decision-making, participation in quality assessment and improvement initiatives, ongoing self-evaluation, leadership responsibilities, and involvement in research activities.
  • Pursue the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain clinical competence.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments within the Hematology/Oncology practice.
  • Develop differential diagnoses.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments.
  • Manage care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
  • Apply critical clinical judgment in the direct management of patients.
  • Promote patient wellness through conducting and contributing to research and providing patient and staff education.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hematology/Oncology experience is preferred.
  • An Oncology Nursing Society or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate is preferred.
  • A Radiation Therapy Certificate is preferred.
  • An Oncology Certified Nurse certification is preferred.
  • Participation in professional and/or specialty organizations is preferred.
