About the Job

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. (preferred) or M.Sc. with strong relevant industrial research experience in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics, Control Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A solid foundation in power electronics and control, such as modular multilevel converters and grid-connected converters, and familiarity with system-level performance and validation considerations.
  • Hands-on experience applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, optimization, surrogate modelling, reinforcement learning, and Bayesian methods, to engineering or physical system problems.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, and scientific computing libraries.
  • Experience with power electronics simulation and modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and/or PLECS, and an ability to connect data-driven methods with physics-based models.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge theory and practice through prototyping and validation in simulation and/or laboratory environments.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability and enthusiasm for multidisciplinary, collaborative research and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop artificial intelligence-enabled software workflows and engineering methods that enhance power electronics design, simulation, and validation processes.
  • Drive applied research in design automation using artificial intelligence and machine learning, optimization algorithms, surrogate modelling, and data-driven methods.
  • Develop and validate approaches for design space exploration, performance prediction, reliability assessment, and system-level optimization of power electronic converters.
  • Build artificial intelligence-assisted simulation pipelines to accelerate engineering workflows, including automated parameter tuning, model calibration, model order reduction, and anomaly and fault detection, integrating machine learning frameworks with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and/or PLECS.
  • Support component selection, reliability assessment, and scalability improvements for power electronic systems.
  • Partner with local Power Electronics teams in Kraków to ground artificial intelligence solutions in practical converter and controller design challenges, and with local machine learning and artificial intelligence teams to scale robust, reusable methods.
  • Collaborate with global research teams and business units to identify high-impact opportunities and translate engineering pain points into user-focused tools and scalable workflows.
  • Work with external partners, including universities, research institutes, startups, and industry consortia, to advance joint research initiatives and validate novel approaches.
  • Disseminate results through technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
