- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is required.
- At least ten years of progressive accounting experience is required.

- Strong working knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls over financial reporting is required.
- Demonstrated experience owning or leading a full month-end close is required.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with a mid-market or enterprise resource planning or accounting system are required.
- The role requires the ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- The role requires accuracy, professional skepticism, and discretion with confidential information.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare the annual budget, report budget-to-actual results, perform monthly variance analysis, and make recommendations; report to management, the board, and investors.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the annual external audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and resolving issues before they become findings.
- Design, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting; identify gaps and implement practical improvements.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities.
- Manage sales and use tax and support income tax filings prepared by outside advisors.
- Partner with department leaders on budget-versus-actual reporting and variance explanations.
- Drive process and system improvements to shorten the close and increase reporting accuracy.
- Support special projects, including technical accounting research and documentation of accounting positions.
- Oversee the accounting team.
- Prior company-side accounting experience after leaving public accounting.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning implementation, migration, or process automation.
- Experience with manufacturing companies.
- Experience with federal contracts and reporting.
- A master's degree in Accounting or an MBA.
