About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in machine learning or artificial intelligence, with a proven track record leading client-facing engagements in a consulting or advisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated people-management experience, including hiring, performance calibration, career development, and handling difficult conversations constructively.
  • Current, deep knowledge of the AWS machine-learning and generative-AI ecosystem, with the ability to make and defend architectural decisions across the full machine-learning lifecycle, from data and feature engineering through training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Deep expertise in at least two or three machine-learning domains, such as classical machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, or time series, and the judgment to assess, architect, and advise across the broader machine-learning landscape.
  • Ability to architect and govern production machine-learning systems end-to-end and translate MLOps, LLMOps, and AI operations into standards engineering teams can execute and executives can act on.
  • Deep expertise in foundation-model adaptation, including fine-tuning with LoRA, QLoRA, and PEFT; alignment with RLHF and DPO; inference optimization; and distributed training, combined with RAG and agentic system design, including multi-agent architectures, MCP integration, and human-in-the-loop patterns on AWS.
  • Ability to operate independently in complex, ambiguous customer environments, navigate competing priorities, align stakeholders, and translate machine-learning tradeoffs into business risk and value for technical and executive audiences.
  • Must have current legal authorization to work in Brazil; the employer cannot sponsor visa or work-permit applications.
  • Technical stack knowledge spans machine-learning domains, AWS ML platform and AI services, multi-provider large language models, data platforms, vector databases, machine-learning frameworks, MLOps and governance, LLM evaluation and safety, and inference and optimization technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and build the team by setting the technical bar for machine-learning roles, leading or overseeing technical assessments, and making hiring decisions.
  • Develop team members through regular structured one-on-one meetings, candid feedback at meaningful milestones, and active investment in each person's growth.
  • Manage performance by recognizing strong contributors, addressing performance gaps early, partnering with HR business partners and the Director of AI/ML when structured intervention is needed, and advocating for the team.
  • Stay close to staffing by understanding team utilization across engagements, informing the staffing team about each person's evolving skills and preferences, and ensuring assignments appropriately stretch team members.
  • Lead end-to-end machine-learning assessments of customer environments, including infrastructure, data pipelines, model lifecycle, and organizational readiness, and produce recommendations to guide executive decisions and future engagements.
  • Serve as senior technical authority on engagements by setting architectural direction, ensuring technical quality across the team, and making decisions on difficult tradeoffs.
  • Advise customers on building sustainable machine-learning systems by translating MLOps, LLMOps, and production-monitoring complexity into actionable standards for engineering teams and leadership.
  • Partner with sales and solutions teams during scoping and proposal phases, providing technical input to accurately scope work and establish delivery confidence.
  • Lead engagements from kickoff through delivery by driving architecture and solution design, setting technical direction, unblocking difficult problems, and ensuring work meets quality standards.
  • Own the technical client relationship as the primary contact for architect-level outcomes or as the senior technical authority overseeing the team, depending on the engagement.
  • Mentor engineers and architects through real work, contribute to technical interviews, and build reference architectures and accelerators that improve the broader machine-learning practice.

Desired Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
  • Experience shaping practice-level standards, reference architectures, and reusable machine-learning accelerators across multiple engagements.
  • Exposure to varied industries and problem types in a consulting or client-facing context.
  • Deep fluency in responsible AI practices, including model evaluation, bias detection, fairness frameworks, and AI governance applied in enterprise deployments.
  • Fluency in AIOps patterns, including designing agentic workflows for anomaly detection, automated root-cause analysis, and remediation across observability platforms, and translating AI operations outcomes into measurable customer business value.
