About Smart Working

This role is for a substantial, fast-growing and well-respected UK organisation that has hired several Smart Working professionals before. They are well known for investing in their people and offering a progressive and supportive working environment.

About the Role

The role is approximately 60% SEO and 40% hands-on React/Next.js development. You will be responsible for both driving organic growth and independently developing, updating and publishing website pages. Strong practical coding experience is essential, as you must be able to implement website changes yourself rather than relying on developers.

This is a hands-on role: you will implement SEO changes yourself in code (Next.js, React, JavaScript/TypeScript), not just recommend them to developers. It also covers content marketing, analytics and tracking, managing multiple websites, and publishing changes quickly, often the same day. Healthcare/YMYL experience is a strong advantage.

You will use Claude and other AI tools extensively to automate repetitive SEO and marketing work. The role suits a flexible, creative problem-solver who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the overall SEO strategy.
Own technical SEO and continuously identify and resolve issues affecting organic visibility.
Conduct keyword research, search-intent analysis and competitor research.
Improve organic rankings, qualified organic traffic and ultimately leads/revenue.
Develop and execute an SEO-focused content strategy.
Identify content gaps and opportunities and improve existing content.
Manage and improve Google Business Profile and local search visibility where relevant.
Monitor Google rankings, Google Search Console, GA4 and other SEO KPIs.
Ensure analytics and tracking are correctly configured through GA4 and Google Tag Manager (GTM).
Build useful reporting and dashboards focused on meaningful business outcomes.
Use Claude and other AI tools extensively to improve productivity and automate repetitive SEO/marketing tasks.
Manage tracking, A/B testing and email automation.
Build WhatsApp agents and web agents.
Drive YouTube content promotion as an essential part of the role.
Implement website changes directly in the codebase without depending on a separate development team.
Create and update website pages, layouts, components and content to support SEO and marketing objectives.
Implement technical SEO improvements directly within React and Next.js websites.
Maintain and improve existing websites, ensuring changes are implemented accurately and efficiently.
Handle website updates and publish changes quickly, including same-day updates when required.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in content marketing and SEO content strategy.
5+ years of experience driving Google Search and organic ranking growth.
5+ years of experience with Google Analytics/GA4 and Google Tag Manager (GTM).
5+ years of experience in keyword research and competitor analysis.
2+ years of experience with React and Next.js.
5+ years of overall experience, at Senior level.
YouTube content promotion experience is essential.
