About the company

Wine Energy delivers heating oil and other petroleum fuels to homes and businesses across Northern Virginia. Beyond fuel, its HVAC division installs and repairs heating and air conditioning systems, and its Crystal Clean Duct Service unit cleans air ducts and dryer vents for residential and commercial customers. A retail division runs Wi-Not Stop gas stations and convenience stores in Prince William and Fauquier counties, some with delis serving fresh pizza, chicken and burgers. The company earns money from fuel deliveries, heating and cooling service work and in-store sales. It began in the early 1960s with heating oil accounts handed over by Humble Oil and is headquartered in Manassas, Virginia.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Driver pay is solid: Wine Energy lists $24.50 to $28.00 hourly for Manassas fuel drivers with hazmat- and tanker-endorsed CDLs.
  • Beginners get trained: Crystal Clean, Wine Energy's duct-cleaning subsidiary, offers full-time Manassas technicians paid on-the-job training and $20-$24 hourly.
  • Fuel volume anchors the business: Wine Energy reports selling over 33 million gallons of heating oil and petroleum products yearly.

What critics are saying

  • Driver shifts run long and late: Wine Energy seeks Manassas night-shift fuel drivers, with shifts averaging 10 to 12 hours.
  • Wine Energy's heating-oil line faces shrinking demand: federal data updated June 2024 show US home use falling since the 1970s.
  • Store pay is modest: Wine Energy's Godwin Wi-Not Stop cashier posting in Manassas lists $13.00 to $14.50 an hour.

What makes Wine Energy unique

  • Wine Energy stays in family hands: its job postings describe a third-generation, family-owned business.
  • Commercial fueling comes to the job: Wine Energy's trucks refuel construction equipment on site and it installs card-lock fueling systems.
  • Wine Energy pitches lower oil use: its motto is "selling less oil to more people," backed by contract efficiency checks.
