Requirements
  • At least a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in building systems maintenance, with a strong focus on HVAC, boilers, and chillers.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in electrical systems.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical components of HVAC, chiller, and boiler systems.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, compressed air systems, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience with daily operational checks, performance monitoring, and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical, electrical, and control principles.
  • General handyman skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and urgency.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Basic computer skills, including computerized maintenance management system data entry and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize food safety and employee safety.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
Responsibilities
  • Perform daily inspections and operational checks on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, compressed air systems, and other equipment on the Facilities Assets List.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control issues related to building systems.
  • Monitor system performance and adjust systems to optimize efficiency and reliability.
  • Respond to facility-related breakdowns or alerts and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Perform basic building repairs, caulking, light piping work, and the assembly or relocation of accessories, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment, accessories, and furniture.
  • Perform minor repair work within Facilities scopes as directed by the Facilities Supervisor or Manager.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC, chiller, boiler, and related facilities equipment.
  • Replace filters, belts, and other consumable components according to maintenance schedules or as directed by the line manager.
  • Document all maintenance activities in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Identify potential issues before they become major problems and escalate them as needed.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing specialized maintenance or repairs.
  • Ensure contractor work is completed according to company standards and safety requirements.
  • Maintain records of service contracts, completed work, and equipment warranties.
  • Assist, host, or escort contractors during interventions on company premises.
  • Conduct and log daily building system checks, including temperature, pressure, and operational readings.
  • Track system performance trends and report deviations to Facilities Supervisors or the Facilities Manager.
  • Recommend and implement improvements for energy efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures while performing work.
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, food safety workshops, and workplace inspections.
  • Keep equipment rooms and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
