Network Security Engineer
About the job
- Configure Palo Alto, Check Point, ASA, and PIX firewall and virtual private network systems.
- Have knowledge and experience with Border Gateway Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol, and Interior Gateway Routing Protocol.
- Apply advanced Open Systems Interconnection model knowledge, including Layer 3 and Layer 4 packet analysis, for end-to-end network troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate a strong troubleshooting and problem-analysis background.
- Identify security incidents, provide supporting information, and support the corporate data network through containment and remediation.
- Manage timelines and projects.
- Work collaboratively and mentor and train Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.
- Provide Tier 3 support for firewall and virtual private network issues, independently troubleshooting and resolving network issues escalated from other groups.
- Plan and design future corporate firewall and virtual private network infrastructure, test new equipment and processes in a lab, and create support documentation and procedures for the corporate data network.
- Install, configure, and maintain new firewall and virtual private network equipment and software.
- Use monitoring tools to evaluate firewall and virtual private network performance and identify areas requiring changes as the corporate data network grows.
- Maintain network drawings and documents with current firewall and virtual private network configurations and supporting information, including vendors, circuit identifiers, and support contacts.
- Document firewall and virtual private network problems and their resolutions for future reference.
- Work additional hours when needed and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Travel when required.
- Have advanced experience using computer software on Windows, Apple, and Linux platforms.
- Have experience with Microsoft Office and Visio, including creating technical documentation with this software.
- Have knowledge of switches, routers, load balancers, local area networks, wide area networks, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, Quality of Service, Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Multiprotocol Label Switching, Metro Ethernet, Point-to-Point Protocol, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi.
- Hold professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate or Cisco Certified Network Professional.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
