Requirements
  • A Master of Science in Nursing is required.
  • Experience with simulation in a healthcare education or training environment is required.
  • Experience or certification with high-fidelity simulation and experience teaching in a laboratory or simulation environment are required.
  • Knowledge of an Academic Electronic Health Record system is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a supervisory laboratory position is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive simulation program for implementation across the nursing curriculum.
  • Oversee and provide mentorship for all instructors teaching in the laboratory setting.
  • Lead the simulation laboratory in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of new courses, scenarios, simulation tools, research studies, and other educational initiatives to measure learning outcomes using simulation and clinical education best practices.
  • Coordinate with course coordinators to schedule students for supplemental simulation activities.
  • Coordinate with course coordinators to schedule live genitourinary and gynecological demonstrations and instruction with standardized patients.
  • Manage and conduct inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor the budget in consultation with the director and place replenishment orders.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment used in nursing and obtain information on that equipment for purchasing consideration.
  • Maintain the safe working function of equipment and the laboratory environment.
  • Train laboratory members in laboratory safety, experimental design, and data interpretation.
  • Prepare monthly summaries of student and faculty use of the laboratory and equipment.
  • Generate data reports.
  • Oversee general maintenance and repair of all simulation equipment, including high-fidelity simulators, computers, monitors, part-task trainers, audiovisual systems, and debriefing systems.
  • Provide technical support for high- and mid-fidelity simulators and low-fidelity equipment and part-task trainers.
  • Assess staff development needs, identify goals, and provide resources.
  • Identify areas for performance improvement and establish plans containing goals, interventions, and measures.
