NuScale's (SMR) shares drew investor attention on Tuesday after Barclays downgraded the stock and slashed its price target amid concerns over commercial delays. According to The Fly, Barclays lowered its price target to $5 from $11 and cut its rating to 'Underweight' from 'Equal Weight'. Barclays said NuScale's investment case depends on commercial milestones that have been slower to materialize than expected, increasing the company's execution risk. SMR shares traded 7% lower in premarket trading on Tuesday, falling to $5.26 from $5.44, below their 52-week low at the time of writing. According to Koyfin data, 9 of the 18 analysts covering the stock rate it 'Hold', while 6 have a 'Buy' or 'Strong Buy' rating. TVA-ENTRA1 deal remains A key milestone. Barclays noted that a definitive agreement between the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and ENTRA1 Energy supporting the proposed 6-gigawatt deployment had yet to be announced. The firm sees a risk that negotiations could extend into 2027, The Fly reported. TVA and ENTRA1 announced a non-binding agreement in September 2025 to collaborate on developing plants capable of providing up to 6 gigawatts of nuclear power generation. The proposed deployment would use NuScale's small modular reactor technology. NuScale said in its second-quarter 2026 results that ENTRA1 continued discussions with TVA toward a definitive power purchase agreement. Other commercial updates. NuScale is also working with S.N. Nuclearelectrica and RoPower Nuclear to satisfy conditions attached to Nuclearelectrica shareholders' vote to advance the proposed project in Doicesti, Romania. The project would deploy six NuScale Power Modules at a former coal plant site. The company ended the second quarter of 2026 with $1.9 billion in cash, cash equivalents and short- and long-term investments, according to its earnings release. NuScale is scheduled to report its third-quarter 2026 results on November 5, after market close. Analysts expect a loss of approximately 12 cents per share on revenue of $3.84 million, according to estimates from Fiscal AI. How retail views SMR. Amazon's nuclear bet spotlights three stocks: Constellation ($96.1B), Oklo ($5.2B), NuScale ($2.5B)

Amazon's decision to fund 12 small nuclear reactors at a former Indiana coal plant is turning the debate over atomic power into a live commercial test. A major buyer is now committing to nuclear energy for data centre-level reliability. A Simply Wall St screen highlights three nuclear stocks. NuScale Power (market cap $2.5 billion) develops small modular reactors and earned about $11 million from US utility-related activities. Constellation Energy ($96.1 billion) runs a large nuclear fleet and reports about $31.3 billion from generation. It has roughly 920MW of long-term nuclear contracts with investment grade buyers, averaging 18.5 years. Oklo ($5.2 billion) builds 15–75MW Aurora fission plants and recycles used fuel. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved its Principal Design Criteria for Aurora, though the reactors are not yet fully licensed.

Nuclear boom: three dividend stocks yielding up to 5.3% beat loss-making Oklo and NuScale

Electricity demand over the next 20 years is expected to run six times higher than from 2005 to 2025, driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and electric vehicles. Nuclear power is set to help meet it. Small reactor developers Oklo and NuScale Power are risky bets. In the second quarter of 2026, Oklo made $1.4 million in revenue against $74.4 million in operating expenses; NuScale made $75,000 against just over $64 million. Neither pays a dividend. Dividend payers offer other routes. Constellation Energy, which runs the largest US nuclear fleet, yields about 0.5% and has power deals with Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon. NextEra Energy yields 3.2% and plans to buy Dominion Energy. Brookfield Renewable yields 5.3% and owns a stake in Westinghouse.

GE Vernova's 300MW reactor wins first US small modular construction permit, beating NuScale

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved Tennessee Valley Authority's application to construct a 300-megawatt BWRX-300 reactor from GE Vernova at its Clinch River site in Tennessee. This marks the first commercial small modular reactor the NRC has cleared for construction. The approval came after a 14-month review, four months ahead of schedule. Ontario Power Generation also received a licence to construct the first BWRX-300 in Canada in April 2025, with construction now underway. Meanwhile, NuScale Power, which holds the only NRC design certification for a small modular reactor, has no firm customer commitments yet. Its shares have fallen approximately 86% from a year ago. NuScale's revenue dropped from $8.1 million in Q2 2025 to just $75,000 in Q2 2026, whilst operating losses grew to $64 million.
