Requirements
  • The candidate must have senior-level experience as a nuclear safety leader.
  • The candidate must have executive experience with direct interface with client senior management.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of Department of Energy policies and procedures.
  • The candidate must have expert-level knowledge of the Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
  • The candidate must have expert-level knowledge of Department of Energy program and project management practices, policies, and procedures.
  • The candidate must have expert writing skills and proven experience supporting programs and projects through analysis, tracking, monitoring, assessment, review, and coordination.
  • The candidate must be able to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and related tools and technology.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen.
  • The candidate must be eligible for Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as Employment Authorization, by the United States Government's designated Security Office.
  • The candidate must be able to qualify for background investigative requirements up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • The candidate must be able to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement if required.
  • Work products must be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and compliant with established criteria.
Responsibilities
  • Support Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant project senior leadership in executing their duties.
  • Perform design, construction, nuclear safety, technical issue resolution, and operability oversight for covered facilities.
  • Provide expert nuclear safety, technical, and capital project resources to support project completion and transition to operations.
  • Support system testing, commissioning, startup, and future operability of the facilities as needed.
  • Assess the ongoing development and implementation of the safety basis in accordance with 10 CFR 830, applicable Department of Energy orders and standards, and the BNI contract.
  • Support system and facility design reviews, including reviews of system description documents, procurement documents, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and test data, with focus on operability, maintainability, safety, and controls.
  • Evaluate technical issues, improvements, proposals, design alternatives, nuclear safety matters, code-of-record exceptions, technical risk assessments, and significant baseline change proposals.
  • Support transition to operations, including operational readiness oversight and development of training, qualification, and operational oversight programs and strategies.
  • Complete critical assessments and implement actions required to support WTP management.
  • Brief senior management on technical issues and resolution options and facilitate decision-making.
  • Prepare assessments and reports, decision memoranda, and participation in meetings, workshops, and Integrated Project Teams as required.
  • Perform work in compliance with ORP procedures and directions provided by AMWTP.
  • Coordinate occasional travel for meetings, events, site visits, or training as approved by the Contracting Officer.
