Requirements
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent level of education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Create policy documents representing insurance transactions bound by the underwriter.
  • Ensure statistical coding and policy issuance comply with regulatory requirements for each insurance transaction.
  • Order inspections, premium audits, and loss runs as required.
  • Maintain electronic and/or physical underwriting files.
  • Solicit renewal transactions.
  • Re-format data for import into the front-end system as necessary.
  • Provide basic operational support for the product line’s underwriters.
  • Develop underwriting information from the internet and other data sources as requested by underwriters.
  • Review facultative insurance certificates to ensure reinsurer-identified terms are consistent with the underwriter’s expected terms.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies with facultative reinsurers.
  • Provide operational, production, and underwriting reports to underwriting staff using front-end systems and/or Business Objects.
  • Contact producers to determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing of systematic changes.
  • Review or approve endorsements, analyze risks, review terms and conditions of underlying policies, and review risk inspections on behalf of Underwriting when authorized.

RLI partners with IntelliShift to expand fleet safety technology for insured operators. PEORIA, Ill. - RLI Transportation has partnered with fleet intelligence platform IntelliShift to provide its policyholders with discounted access to technology designed to improve fleet safety, operational visibility and performance. The partnership gives RLI Transportation policyholders exclusive pricing on IntelliShift's platform, which combines telematics, AI-powered dash camera insights, vehicle maintenance, compliance, safety and analytics into a single dashboard. According to the companies, the partnership expands RLI Transportation's network of telematics and safety technology providers while offering a connected platform that integrates with systems many commercial fleets already use. IntelliShift also integrates with two of RLI Transportation's technology partners, Netradyne and TruckerCloud. Netradyne's AI-powered camera technology provides video-based insights to support driver coaching and encourage safer driving habits, while TruckerCloud simplifies telematics data sharing and gives fleets greater visibility into operational data. RLI Corp delivers strong Q2 2026 results with 17% investment income growth and $2 special dividend

RLI Corp reported Q2 2026 operating earnings of $0.83 per share, slightly up from $0.82 last year, whilst net earnings jumped to $1.82 from $1.34. The insurance company saw net investment income rise 17% to $46 million and achieved a 25% return on equity. Gross premiums written grew 3%, with the casualty segment leading at 11% growth. The company recorded a combined ratio of 85.6 and underwriting income of $59.9 million. RLI returned capital to shareholders through a $2 special dividend and authorised a $250 million share repurchase programme, buying back 235,000 shares. Book value per share increased 11% from year-end 2025. Total investments and cash stood at approximately $4.9 billion.

RLI's gross premiums written rise 3% to $579.7m in Q2'26. Specialty insurer RLI Corp. reported gross written premiums (GPW) of $579.7 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 3% from $562.3 million in the same period last year. RLI said the growth in total premiums was driven by its casualty division, which generated $339 million in premiums. Properties generated $199.3 million, while guarantees generated $41.4 million. For the quarter, net written premiums were US$484.7 million, an increase of 6% from US$457.1 million in the same period last year, while net premiums earned were US$417.1 million, an increase of 3.8% from US$401.9 million in the same period last year. In the second quarter of '26, net profit totaled US$168 million, an increase of 35.1% from US$124.3 million in the second quarter of '25. Operating profit reached $76.9 million ($0.83 per share), compared with $76.2 million in the same period last year. RLI posted underwriting revenue of $59.9 million, down from $62.2 million, and a combined ratio of 85.6%, up from 84.5%. The results for both years included good development in loss reserves from previous years, which increased underwriting income by $35.1 million in 2026 and $24.4 million in 2025. Net investment income increased 16.8% to $46 million from $39.4 million. The portfolio's total return was 3.4% for the quarter and 3.0% for the six months ended June 30, 2026. "We are pleased to report another quarter of premium growth and profitability," said Craig Kliethermes, president and chief executive officer of RLI Corp. "Gross premiums increased 3%, driven by our casualty business, while strong margins in our property and surety businesses drove a combined ratio of 86. Net investment income increased 17%, complementing our underwriting performance and driving growth from 2025 Book value per share increased 11% year-to-date, including dividends returned to shareholders. RLI announces James H. Bradshaw to join Board of Directors. RLI Corp., a US specialty insurer offering property, casualty and surety insurance products, has announced the appointment of James H. Bradshaw to its Board of Directors. Bradshaw joined the Board with effect from 15 July 2026. His initial term will continue until the company's next annual shareholders' meeting in May 2027, when he will be nominated for re-election by shareholders. His appointment became effective on 15 July 2026 as part of the company's ongoing board governance and oversight arrangements.
