Requirements
  • 1-4 years of mechanical design experience; exceptional new graduates with strong project or internship work are welcome to apply.
  • Solid fundamentals in statics, materials, tolerance analysis, fasteners, and basic finite element analysis.
  • Experience building things through student teams, shipped products, or working prototypes.
  • Hands-on machining experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week, or six days per week when needed during crunch time.
Responsibilities
  • Own a subassembly and its parts through design, hand calculations, fabrication, assembly, and validation.
  • Own supporting analysis, including hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, fastener and material selection, and basic finite element analysis.
  • Build, assemble, and test parts on test fixtures and on the robot.
  • Iterate quickly by turning feedback from a failed test into a revised part the same week.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at a hardware, robotics, aerospace, or automotive company.
  • Experience with computer-aided manufacturing using Fusion 360 or comfort programming your own toolpaths.
  • Comfort using artificial intelligence tools to multiply your own output.
