  • The ability to lift, push, or pull 10–20 pounds occasionally and move objects weighing less than 10 pounds frequently is required.
  • Frequent sitting, with some walking, standing, squatting, bending, and reaching, is required.
  • Keyboard or computer use and repetitive motions may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with and perform nursing functions under the supervision of a Nursing Supervisor within the limits of the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act and nursing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough patient health assessments, accurately record information, and report unusual data to the nursing supervisor or provider in a timely manner.
  • Assess and identify patient symptoms and problems, report unusual data, and administer nursing care in compliance with the medical and nursing plan of care.
  • Deliver patient care and education addressing identified or potential physiological and developmental problems, family learning needs, and environmental problems.
  • Administer medications through permitted methods, including oral and intramuscular administration, and obtain and handle specimens according to policy.
  • Follow infection-control guidelines and use personal protective equipment appropriately.
  • Assist providers with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Educate families or caregivers on health promotion and safe environments, including healthy lifestyles, risk-reducing behaviors, and normal or age-specific care and safety.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to treatments and interventions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Deliver patient care while meeting quality-management expectations and using appropriate tools.
  • Complete documentation promptly, thoroughly, accurately, and in compliance with departmental guidelines.
  • Interact and collaborate professionally with other providers involved in patient care.
  • Explain procedures and medications in a manner patients and families understand.
  • Act as a patient advocate and assist families in developing advocacy skills for their child.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly clinical and patient-care environment.
  • Acquire and maintain clinical competencies by successfully completing return demonstrations and computer-based learning modules.
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues to support professional development.
  • Use hospital resources and time respectfully, accountably, efficiently, and effectively, and serve as a role model and resource for others.
  • Record applicable patient charges promptly, thoroughly, and accurately to support appropriate billing.
  • Stock supplies and equipment proactively or as directed.
