Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • Current licensure as an occupational therapist; new graduates may be accepted if licensed.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification obtained within the past 12 months.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
  • The ability to provide safe, efficient, and effective occupational therapy services across areas of practice.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess the abilities and needs of individuals.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate client function.
  • Provide pediatric in-home or school services and/or treatment for adults with medical or health concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect the client-centered approach across physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environments.
  • Apply evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients through a collaborative approach, building rapport and trust and reaching mutual understanding and agreement about services.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service by keeping current with changes in the practice setting that affect scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records for client encounters and plans in compliance with company policies and occupational therapy regulatory standards.
