Requirements
- Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
- Current licensure as an occupational therapist; new graduates may be accepted if licensed.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification obtained within the past 12 months.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- A current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
- The ability to provide safe, efficient, and effective occupational therapy services across areas of practice.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide community visits to assess the abilities and needs of individuals.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate client function.
- Provide pediatric in-home or school services and/or treatment for adults with medical or health concerns.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare workers and other community resources.
- Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement.
- Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect the client-centered approach across physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environments.
- Apply evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
- Engage clients through a collaborative approach, building rapport and trust and reaching mutual understanding and agreement about services.
- Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service by keeping current with changes in the practice setting that affect scope of practice.
- Maintain professional client records for client encounters and plans in compliance with company policies and occupational therapy regulatory standards.
