Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • One year of radiologic experience.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or obtaining the registry within six months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross equivalent.
  • Must obtain ARRT MRI Registration within one year of the hire date.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and performing frequent fine and gross motor movements.
  • Ability to maintain the specified corrected vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime, work in a latex-safe environment, and meet respirator-use qualifications where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule examinations for inpatient and outpatient patients.
  • Select the correct protocol for each examination as set by the radiologist, verify the correct patient, and position the patient correctly on the table.
  • Perform high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations for physician interpretation.
  • Send images to the picture archiving and communication system (PACS), complete the examination in the radiology information system (RIS), document appropriate information in RIS and PACS, complete associated paperwork, and verify images on PACS.
  • Correctly bill for contrast in the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
  • Exercise independent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity with minimal supervision.
  • Document performance-improvement information, including contrast reactions and extravasations, downtime, physician and patient information, and patient complaints in EPIC and/or Shield.
