Requirements
  • Three to five years of experience in a welder function, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards is required.
  • Experience with Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Sub-Arc Welding is required.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau, Canadian Standards Association W47, or American Society of Mechanical Engineers certification is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and following specific work instructions and blueprints for made-to-order products.
  • Working knowledge and experience with plasma and oxyacetylene processes.
  • Working knowledge and experience with typical measuring equipment, including tape measures.
  • Ability to work while standing, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Strong verbal communication in English.
Responsibilities
  • Follow all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Fit and weld metal pressure vessels using Flux Core Arc Welding.
  • Ensure quality manufacturing and report product defects.
  • Read, understand, and follow blueprints, work instructions, and welding procedures.
  • Prepare material surfaces prior to welding.
  • Operate welding equipment to bond components in the horizontal position (2G).
  • Mark, record, and report material defects as required.
  • Utilize overhead cranes, jib cranes, and other lifting devices.
  • Use safe material-handling equipment.
  • Contribute ideas to improve manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
