Requirements
- OCDT Certification.
- A minimum of two years of patient care experience is required.
- Successful completion of the ACT pre-assessment.
- Excellent clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by achieving a rating of “meets or exceeds expectations” on the most recent performance evaluation.
- Must be in, and maintain, “good standing” status for performance and attendance.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with management, coworkers, and patients.
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- Ability to organize time and priorities in order to meet various deadlines.
- Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment and office equipment.
- Ability to work while exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, noise, vibration, and other business-related conditions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a role model and mentor to all staff.
- Demonstrate correct practice of all clinical and personnel policies and procedures.
- Work with new staff to help them master role competencies through teaching, counseling, and inspiring.
- Support staff and personal growth and development.
- Successfully complete the CDC orientation class for “Training the Adult Learner.”
- Assess trainees’ learning needs and provide appropriate educational opportunities.
- Plan and monitor an individual’s orientation in conjunction with the Education Department.
- Document trainee progress through required orientation paperwork, anecdotal notes, and/or email.
- Provide feedback to trainees through daily verbal and/or written progress reports.
- Meet weekly with trainees and the Facility Manager to review performance using constructive criticism.
- Facilitate trainees’ socialization to the workplace.
- Teach trainees to consistently follow CDC policies and procedures.
- Act as a clinical resource to trainees and other staff members.
- Facilitate good relationships between trainees and patients.
- Follow the patient schedule to allow adequate time for training and orientee development.
- Remain focused on and attentive to trainees through each training session.
- Attend bi-annual meetings offered through the Education Department.
- Perform all duties of the Dialysis Technician.
- Demonstrate knowledge of water room and SDS policies and procedures, and troubleshoot and intervene when necessary.
- Collaborate with the charge registered nurse to ensure tasks are completed.
- Act as a clinical resource to staff and an expert resource for patient care policies and procedures.
- Attend and provide education to staff.
- Participate actively in a facility-based initiative and exhibit leadership within that group.
- Document all patient data obtained while providing care, along with the patient’s response, completely, accurately, and timely.
- Communicate appropriately with staff and provide care professionally while adhering to CDC House Rules and Pledge.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and knowledge of required standards and responsibilities.
- Participate in at least two continuous quality improvement projects per year and additional projects as needed.
- Perform staff proficiency and competency checks as assigned.
- Mentor new employees to encourage quality care and staff retention.
- Assist with BONENT preparation for new Dialysis Technicians.
- Review policies and procedures and communicate changes and updates as needed.
- Provide a designated staff in-service as needed.
- Act in a leadership role during scheduled emergency drills, including ER takeoff, pyrogen reaction, and mock CPR.
- Participate actively on the facility team and complete projects timely and professionally.
- Accept additional duties as needed.
