Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Have 7–10+ years of demonstrated success in enterprise new-business development and sales, ideally in consulting, technology services, professional services, or managed services.
  • Have extensive experience selling into Consumer Products & Services organizations, particularly Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods, Food, and Grocery, with demonstrated understanding of industry dynamics, business priorities, and enterprise buying environments.
  • Have a proven track record personally originating, developing, and closing enterprise clients rather than relying on inherited accounts, established relationships, or account expansion.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed new-logo and new-business bookings targets and demonstrate individual contributions to pipeline creation and closed business.
  • Build a territory and qualified pipeline from scratch through direct prospecting, executive networking, account penetration, and competitive displacement.
  • Originate and close complex, high-value enterprise engagements, ideally with organizations generating $2B+ in annual revenue.
  • Have success selling consultative, service-oriented solutions involving technology, consulting, managed services, or other complex professional services offerings.
  • Understand challenges facing consumer products and retail organizations, including digital commerce, brand and marketing transformation, supply chain modernization, operational efficiency, customer experience, and AI-enabled business transformation.
  • Engage credibly with C-suite executives and senior business and technology leaders within CP&S organizations, develop executive sponsorship, and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Use business acumen to uncover client challenges, shape commercial opportunities, and translate business priorities into compelling solutions.
  • Lead full-cycle enterprise sales pursuits, including opportunity qualification, solution development, competitive positioning, pricing, negotiation, procurement, and contracting.
  • Navigate complex enterprise procurement, legal, and commercial processes within large consumer products, retail, or services organizations.
  • Understand emerging technologies, including AI, and discuss their practical application to enterprise business challenges within Consumer Products & Services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape and win complex engagements while retaining personal ownership of the sales outcome.
  • Demonstrate commercial discipline in pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, opportunity prioritization, and consistent execution.
  • Demonstrate resilience, persistence, competitive drive, and the ability to create momentum when opportunities must be earned rather than provided.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • Travel regularly or periodically to meet and engage with Toptal clients and customers inside and outside the candidate's geographic location.
  • Have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and handle a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and diverse contacts.
  • Be a world-class individual contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Build and convert a pipeline of net-new enterprise clients across Consumer Products & Services by identifying high-potential organizations, developing access to decision-makers, uncovering business challenges, and creating opportunities for Toptal to compete and win.
  • Lead the sales process from initial engagement through securing the first revenue booking, working with internal subject matter experts and key stakeholders to shape solutions, navigate complex buying processes, and close new business.
  • Own new-logo acquisition and secured bookings across consumer products, retail, and services organizations, with direct accountability for identifying, developing, and closing new business.
  • Proactively identify target accounts, develop prospecting strategies, leverage the CP&S industry network, and create opportunities through consistent outreach; partner with SDRs without depending on them to generate the pipeline.
  • Establish relationships with senior business and technology leaders, economic buyers, and decision-makers at organizations without an established Toptal commercial relationship.
  • Engage prospective clients around strategic priorities, identify business problems, and position Toptal capabilities to create compelling reasons to act; bring informed perspectives on commercial, operational, and technology challenges in consumer products and retail.
  • Own the full sales cycle, including qualification, discovery, stakeholder alignment, solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, procurement, contracting, and securing the initial revenue booking.
  • Develop strategies to displace incumbent providers, differentiate Toptal from traditional consulting and technology services firms, and navigate competitive enterprise buying processes.
  • Work with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders to combine specialized talent, technology, AI, marketing, consulting, and managed services solutions for client challenges across digital commerce, supply chain, customer experience, commercial operations, and business transformation.
  • Build sufficient qualified pipeline to consistently deliver new-logo and bookings targets; maintain accurate opportunity intelligence, forecasting, and disciplined sales execution.
  • Drive opportunities forward, navigate obstacles, negotiate effectively, and remain accountable for securing booked revenue.
  • Transfer commercial commitments, initial booking details, and relevant client context to Client Partners and delivery teams following the initial booking.
  • Build market presence through executive networking, CP&S industry events, referrals, and direct client engagement.
  • In the first week, onboard with Toptal; learn the business model, value proposition, capabilities, sales methodologies, prospecting tools, commercial processes, CP&S industry strategy, target client profiles, priority segments, markets, contracting processes, and legal processes; meet Industry, Sales Development, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.
  • In the first month, develop a targeted new-logo acquisition plan with the CP&S Industry GM; identify priority accounts, executive buyers, and pursuit strategies; prospect new consumer products, retail, and services accounts; establish outbound and executive outreach cadence; coordinate with SDRs; begin discovery conversations and build qualified pipeline; learn to position Toptal capabilities against CP&S priorities and challenges.
  • In the first three months, establish a measurable pipeline of qualified net-new CP&S enterprise opportunities, including meaningful self-prospecting and relationship development; build relationships with economic buyers and senior decision-makers; lead active pursuits and develop differentiated solutions and competitive proposals; qualify, advance, and close opportunities through complex buying processes; secure initial new-logo wins and revenue bookings; maintain accurate pipeline, next steps, close strategies, and forecasts.
  • In the first six months, establish a track record acquiring new enterprise CP&S clients and securing initial bookings; sustain a healthy new-logo pipeline; create self-sourced opportunities alongside SDR and cross-functional support; navigate competitive pursuits, executive negotiations, procurement, and contracting; maintain acquisition momentum without taking on ongoing account management; demonstrate progress against new-logo and bookings targets.
  • In the first year, consistently deliver new-logo acquisition and bookings expectations; establish a repeatable approach to originating and closing enterprise business across CP&S; maintain a strong qualified new-logo pipeline through prospecting, executive relationships, industry referrals, and coordinated business development; build a reputation as an effective hunter and closer; develop executive relationships and market connections supporting continued acquisition; demonstrate industry knowledge, commercial judgment, competitive drive, personal accountability, and measurable new-business results.
