Requirements
  • A PhD degree or equivalent in a mental health field, such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling Psychology.
  • An MSW or MA in a mental health field or equivalent, with at least 8 years of clinical experience focused on assessment and treatment of couples and families.
  • Bilingual ability.
  • At least 8 years of supervisory experience in couple and family psychotherapy, with AAMFT-approved supervisor status or equivalent.
  • A psychotherapy permit from the Professional Order of Psychologists of Quebec (OPQ).
  • Completed graduate or post-graduate training in couple and family therapy at an accredited university or training center.
  • Clinical expertise and teaching supervisory experience in therapeutic process, middle-phase treatment, and termination; behavior-change conditions across treatment perspectives; domestic violence and family impacts, including impacts on children, custody, and access; clinical application in diverse family contexts, including separation and divorce, same-sex family systems, and adoption; history of the field, including early systemic models of research and practice perspectives; systemic family therapy, emotionally focused family therapy, attachment-focused family therapy, Object Relations family therapy, family-of-origin themes in treatment, and cognitive behavioral family therapy; systemic models and communication, psychodynamic, humanist, and cognitive behavioral approaches; family therapy paradigms with attention to family diversity; psychotherapeutic competencies; common factors, including communication skills, therapeutic alliance, and client-therapist relationship quality; and gender, race, poverty, social class, and multiculturalism in family treatment.
  • Clinical and teaching experience in assessing relational dynamics of couples or families as systems and of individuals within systems; communicating assessment outcomes; designing and discussing couple and family therapy processes; implementing therapy processes; producing professional-practice documents; and ensuring sound professional practices.
  • Clinical and teaching experience in establishing psychotherapy suitability, conducting clinical evaluations, developing treatment plans, implementing psychotherapeutic treatment, building collaborative partnerships, respecting ethical and legal professional parameters, and contributing to the evolution of practice and the profession.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work at the Quebec campus.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Responsibilities
  • Teach the SWRK 610: Family Treatment course during the Winter 2027 term.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
