Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in progressive HR positions with excellent business acumen and a proven track record of leadership
- Completion of post-secondary studies, with focus in Human Resources or Business
- Solid knowledge of US HR standards and best practices
- Solid working experience with systems such as: HRIS, ATS or other databases, as well as advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience in design and implementation of HR systems is an asset
- Flexibility and demonstrated ability to take initiatives; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Strong experience in project management and working with moving timelines
- Keen attention-to-detail, responsive with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build trust with all levels of employees within the organization
- Proven record of taking responsibility and using good judgment, including exercise of discretion and confidentiality
- Comfortable navigating through ambiguity
- Work experience in high tech industry is an asset
- The Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification an asset
- Knowledge or experience in US immigration policies is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Oversee US HR and collaborate with Global Relay’s global HR leaders in Canada and the UK to ensure consistent practices across the organization
- Drive HR standardizations, processes and efficiencies across departments
- Ensure managers are educated to execute on HR practices, processes, and systems
- Drive management’s ownership for managing and developing their own teams
- Work proactively with managers and leaders to evaluate and prepare for future recruitment needs
- Assist managers to foster a high performing and results-driven culture by being able to manage performance and providing real time feedback
- Work with and advise managers on navigating and managing complex employee relation issues
- Oversee Global Relay’s performance management process and escalate potential issues to the VP of HR as required
- Act as a trusted advisor with stakeholders by building rapport and good working relationships with all levels of management
- Analyze, identify, and forecast any pertinent problems and provide recommendations on appropriate course of action to the VP of HR
- Identify improvement opportunities (e.g. process or system improvements) and propose solutions and timelines
- Ensure HR-related information is up to date for employees (internal Wiki, employee guide, etc.) and propose updates/improvements to existing HR policies
- Keep current and advise the VP of HR on employment legislation updates
- Build and manage the US HR team
- Administer benefits policies and programs for our US employees to ensure appropriate enrolment
- Process HR documentation including offer letters, onboarding/offboarding documents, contractual agreements, employment verification letters, etc.
- Facilitate New Hire Orientation and onboarding activities and conduct exit interviews and related activities as part of the off-boarding process
- Work with the Recruitment team to provide support in the recruitment process: developing and maintaining job descriptions/postings, screening resumes, interviewing and checking references
- Be an avid Global Relay brand ambassador by organizing, identifying, and representing Global Relay at industry events such as recruitment events and company information sessions
- Create and analyze reports based on HR metrics as required, specifically detailing the effectiveness of current HR programs and processes
- Provide support for the immigration process, including new hire requirements, as well as ongoing visa applications for new and existing employees
- Support strategic global HR initiatives, including research, ownership, and participation in the development, implementation, and maintenance of initiatives
- Assist with ad hoc special projects as required
