Requirements
  • Registered Patent Attorney or Patent Agent
  • USPTO Registration and BS degree in a technical field such as biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or physics required
  • 5+ years drafting and prosecuting patent assets, managing portfolios, developing patent strategies, conducting patent analysis, and providing support for licensing, transactions, and litigation efforts
  • Experience with health and wellness technologies and/or medical devices
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and curating the company’s health and wellness patent portfolio
  • Work with the business to build and purposefully prosecute the associated worldwide patent portfolio
  • Identify patentable inventions
  • Secure high-quality, strategic patent assets
  • Provide expert technical and legal analysis
  • Handle patent challenges
  • Provide guidance in support of patent transactions and licensing matters
  • Assign and manage work performed by outside law firms
  • Work with engineering and other business organizations to understand priorities and challenges
  • Provide cross-functional support for acquisition due diligence, IP licensing and transactions, enforcement, and litigation activities
Desired Qualifications
  • JD and at least one state bar admission
  • 5+ years of relevant experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • Familiarity with FDA and international regulatory processes and their interplay with patents
  • Experience with electronic hardware, software, and AIML technologies
  • Familiarity with post issuance challenge proceedings in the US and internationally
