About the job

Requirements
  • Proven ability to partner directly with senior business leaders on people strategy as a driver of commercial outcomes and to shape, influence, and drive executive-level strategic initiatives in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Deep understanding of Human Capital functions, including talent acquisition and management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, inclusion and culture, and Human Capital operations.
  • Ability to translate artificial intelligence's impact on work into talent decisions, including pyramid and leverage redesign, capability architecture, skills evolution, and talent mix choices; fluency with artificial intelligence tools and their people implications is essential, while engineering expertise is not required.
  • Significant experience managing the full Partner or senior executive lifecycle, including performance, compensation, development, succession planning, and accountability, in a partnership-based or professional services environment.
  • Ability to build people analytics as a strategic, real-time capability in partnership with Data Analytics teams; comfort defining governance around artificial intelligence use in talent decisions and ensuring integrity of data informing senior leader choices.
  • Significant experience leading large-scale organizational transformation, operating model design, culture change, and process improvement, with the ability to translate strategy into action and contribute hands-on when required.
  • Proven ability to foster relationships across roles, seniority levels, and geographies; cross-cultural experience is required, as is the ability to navigate complex stakeholder interests while keeping firm-wide strategy at the forefront.
  • Proven track record of supporting people's development, uniting teams toward clear outcomes, and modeling organizational values with emotional intelligence, authenticity, and empathy.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a forward-looking regional people strategy aligned to business objectives and responsive to artificial intelligence's impact on the consulting workforce, including recruitment skills and capabilities, pyramid and leverage structures, the apprenticeship model, and talent mix decisions; partner with global and regional leaders, use data, and establish clear key performance indicators.
  • Shape and implement a modern, artificial-intelligence-enabled Human Capital operating model, including commercially grounded strategic business partnership; digital-first, artificial-intelligence-driven service delivery that automates administrative workflows and eliminates manual workarounds; governance for artificial intelligence in recruiting, performance management, succession, and compensation decisions; and operational excellence in payroll, benefits, and onboarding with seamless cross-team collaboration.
  • Lead the regional talent management and recruiting teams, directing Talent Managers and recruiters across the talent lifecycle for consulting, specialist, and support professional populations, including career development, staffing and deployment, and performance management; ensure recruiting is resourced in line with headcount and skill-mix priorities across markets.
  • Lead the firm's organizational response to artificial-intelligence-enabled work by assessing effects on connection, belonging, and trust; adapting culture and leadership norms; evolving apprenticeship and development; and ensuring employees experience artificial intelligence as something done with them, not to them.
  • Steward the Partner and leadership pipeline by driving executive succession planning and Partner lifecycle management, including development, performance, compensation, and accountability; advise regional leadership on succession readiness, high-potential identification, and leadership bench strength.
  • Lead a large, diverse regional Human Capital team across markets, set high standards for impact and excellence while prioritizing sustainable work-life practices, and upskill the team in business acumen, strategic thought leadership, data fluency, and artificial intelligence literacy.
  • Break down silos, uphold organizational values, and model desired colleague behaviors.
  • Manage a multi-million-dollar budget and oversee annual strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting for the regional Human Capital function.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and challenger to regional leadership; provide thought leadership in governance forums; advise on workforce planning, hiring, promotions, exits, and complex employee relations matters; communicate the talent strategy to colleagues; and represent the firm externally to strengthen its employer brand.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in professional services, ideally consulting, with meaningful understanding of how top-tier firms approach Human Capital issues and/or a strong network of Human Capital peers at peer organizations.
  • A clear, aligned, forward-looking people strategy that supports business performance and firm priorities.
  • Strong leadership depth and succession readiness across the Americas Leadership Team, Partner population, and critical roles.
  • A workforce prepared for future capability needs, market change, and evolving client demands.
  • A culture that reinforces performance excellence, accountability, inclusion, and colleague engagement.
  • A trusted, high-impact Human Capital function that operates with efficiency, clarity, and enterprise credibility.
  • Strong partnership with Marsh enterprise leaders and Centers of Excellence.

What believers are saying

  • Consulting drives growth: Mercer and Oliver Wyman's group grew 8% organically in the June 2026 quarter, versus 3% for broking.
  • Profits cushion jobs: Marsh kept about 27 cents of operating profit per sales dollar in 2025, before one-time costs.
  • Many career paths under one employer: 95,000+ colleagues span broking, reinsurance, benefits and strategy consulting in 130 countries.

What critics are saying

  • Expect cuts: Thrive, announced October 2025, sets aside $500 million, mostly severance and technology, to save $400 million yearly.
  • Pricing works against broking: Marsh's index shows commercial rates fell 6% in the June 2026 quarter, an eighth straight drop.
  • Back-office roles are being consolidated: a Business and Client Services unit is pooling operations and technology teams company-wide.

What makes Marsh & McLennan unique

  • Consulting is a third of the business: Mercer and the Oliver Wyman group earned 36% of 2025 revenue.
  • Investment management sets it apart: Mercer is the world's largest outsourced chief investment office, running portfolios for institutions.
  • Scale sets it apart: 2025 revenue grew 10% to $27.0 billion across broking, reinsurance and consulting.
