About the Job

Requirements

  • The candidate must be comfortable with mechanical systems, electrical systems, and software.
  • The candidate must have at least six years of hands-on experience with industrial automation fundamentals, including programmable logic controller (PLC) programming and ladder logic, pneumatics, direct current power systems, robot programming on any platform, and Python scripting.
  • The candidate must be proficient with computer-aided design (CAD); SolidWorks is preferred, but other tools are acceptable if the candidate can design and think in three dimensions.
  • The candidate must have customer-facing experience and be able to explain technical integrations to engineers, plant managers, and operations directors.
  • The candidate must be comfortable with up to 50% domestic travel and hands-on, on-site work.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the sales team and customers to understand automation goals, production constraints, and integration requirements.
  • Design practical, buildable solutions around Standard Bots hardware and build proof-of-concept systems to validate them before a sale.
  • Develop application notes, sample code, and supporting documentation to help customers and internal teams understand how to replicate and scale solutions.
  • Travel to customer sites to install, program, wire, and commission robotic cells.
  • Own integrations from mechanical setup through software configuration, including fixtures, input/output, programmable logic controller handshakes, safety, testing, and sign-off.
  • Troubleshoot on-site problems and stay until the system works.
  • Train customer operators and technicians on Standard Bots hardware and software, both on-site and at the company facility.
  • Support customers after installation as they find new applications and extend the robot's capabilities.

  • Represent Standard Bots at industry events and trade shows by building and operating demos and discussing solutions with engineers and plant managers.
  • Help develop and maintain demo systems that show the capabilities of Standard Bots hardware.
  • Share real-world integration learnings with hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Assist in-house engineering with testing new features, peripherals, and integrations.

Desired Qualifications

  • SolidWorks experience.
  • Prior experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation applications.
  • Experience with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling.
  • Background in a manufacturing or production environment, including work on or near a factory floor.

About the Company

Standard Bots

Designs and manufactures AI-native industrial robots

Standard Bots designs and manufactures AI-native industrial robot arms and humanoids that learn tasks by demonstration rather than traditional programming. The robots are taught through demonstrations, and the company builds its own actuators and other hardware in the United States to provide end-to-end hardware and software for tasks such as machining, welding, palletizing, grinding, fastening, dispensing, assembly, and inspection. It differentiates itself by combining in-house actuation, U.S. manufacturing, and an AI-driven demonstration-based programming approach to offer a complete, scalable automation platform at prices aimed below legacy robots. Its goal is to expand U.S. manufacturing, grow its Glen Cove facility, and capture a large share of new domestic robot deployments, supported by its AI-native product development and funding.
