Responsibilities
  • Assign team members to activities, ensure staffing coverage meets customer demand, and redeploy staff as needed.
  • Participate in interviews and provide input into selection decisions for new associates.
  • Provide timely feedback and performance coaching; partner with the Assistant Store Manager on formal discipline.
  • Develop associates through coaching and regular performance feedback.
  • Monitor and drive key operational performance metrics.
  • Respond to callouts, no-shows, and unscheduled deliveries by reprioritizing tasks.
  • Monitor safe use of store power equipment and address violations.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and monitor security, theft, inventory, and shrink risks.
  • Recommend strategies to reduce unproductive time, waste, and product loss.
  • Oversee back-end operations, including receiving, inventory stocking, product assembly, freight flow, recovery, and delivery staging.
  • Ensure back-end operations do not impede customer shopping.
  • Drive product movement from receiving to sales departments to replenish shelves and top stock.
  • Ensure merchandise follows planograms and aisles remain clear and neat.
  • Lead night-operations activities during the overnight shift, often as the only key-carrying manager.
  • Provide store leadership as Manager-on-Duty, driving engagement, customer service, staffing, and operational efficiency.
  • Walk the store, observe customer and associate interactions, and provide in-the-moment coaching.
  • Ensure associates are prepared to deliver quality sales and service.
  • Shift associates to high-traffic or hotspot areas as needed.
  • Manage associate response to call buttons.
  • Ensure aisles remain clean, safe, and free of clutter.
  • Hand off shift observations to the next Manager-on-Duty.
  • Route customer complaints, management approvals, and opening and closing activities to appropriate leaders.

Lowe's CEO warns of cautious consumer spending amid macro and geopolitical uncertainty

Lowe's stock trades 27% below peak as DIY demand weakens despite strong cash flow
