Real Canadian Superstore to open new Buffalo Run location Nov. 26.

Real Canadian Superstore to open new Buffalo Run location Nov. 26. October 30, 2026 Real Canadian Superstore will open a 102,300-square-foot location at Buffalo Run on Tsuut'ina Nation, southwest of Calgary, on Nov. 26, bringing a new grocery and retail destination and employment opportunities to the developing community. The store, which marks the first Real Canadian Superstore in Alberta developed in close consultation with an Indigenous community, is part of a broader collaboration between Loblaw Companies Limited, Tsuut'ina Nation and Taza Development Corp. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26. The location is in Buffalo Run, one of three community villages within Taza, a 1,200-acre development on Tsuut'ina Nation overseen by Taza Development Corp. Indigenous consultation and local artwork. During the store's design phase, Real Canadian Superstore consulted with the Tsuut'ina-Taza Cultural Advisory Working Group, incorporating guidance from the group into the project. The building will also feature original artwork by four local Indigenous artists: Aaron Angus Rattlesnake, Maria One Spot, Irene Crowchild and Brianna Rowan-Meguinis. The artists worked with curator Stephanie One Spot to develop pieces celebrating local culture and creativity. The artwork will be unveiled on opening day. "There has been so much care and collaboration behind bringing this store to life, and our team is incredibly excited for customers to finally experience it. We're proud to be joining the Buffalo Run community and look forward to serving our neighbours for many years to come." The project is expected to support employment opportunities and economic activity while providing access to everyday goods for Tsuut'ina Nation members, Taza residents and surrounding communities. James Robertson, President of Taza Development Corp., said the consultation process helped shape the store's design and the inclusion of Indigenous artwork. "Real Canadian Superstore took the time to listen," said Robertson. "Their team brought the guidance they received during design into this building, including original work by local Indigenous artists. This opening brings jobs and everyday essentials closer to Tsuut'ina Nation members and the families settling into Taza. Buffalo Run will keep growing, and we're committed to building it out with the same intention." Store operations and management. The new location will offer fresh produce, full-service meat, seafood and bakery departments, along with household and general merchandise categories including home, entertainment, beauty and toys. The store will be led by manager Beverley Sousa, who has 24 years of experience with Real Canadian Superstore. She began her career as a cashier and worked in several positions before becoming a store manager in 2020. Loblaw said the opening represents another step in the development of Buffalo Run and the broader Taza project, which is being developed through a partnership between Tsuut'ina Nation and Canadian real estate company Canderel. Taza Development Corp. oversees the development of three interconnected villages: Taza Park, Buffalo Run and The Crossing. The development covers 1,200 acres adjacent to Calgary's southwest quadrant. October 9, 2026 at 9:17 a.m. First-of-its-kind study launches ahead of World Mental Health Day providing free coaching to first responders in partnership with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario TORONTO - BetterUp Canada Inc., the Canadian operations of BetterUp(R), the human transformation company and pioneer of virtual coaching, today announced The Ontario Frontline Study, a first-of-its-kind research program centred on first responders and healthcare workers. The research effort is a multi-year study that aims to explore whether and how personalized coaching can build resilience, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being for these workers, who operate in immensely stressful environments. "I've been waiting my whole career to do this study. If the results bear out what the science predicts, this will be among the most important applied research on human resilience ever conducted." - Martin Seligman, PhD "This study is significant for Canada. First responders and healthcare workers carry some of the heaviest mental and emotional load in our workforce, yet the vast majority of mental health resources in this country currently sit in the private sector," said Lesley Lutes, PhD, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Centre for Obesity and Well-Being Research Excellence at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus and advisor on the study. "Research like this builds real evidence behind a scalable way to reach the people holding it together for everyone else. If we want to build Canada strong, it must be on a solid foundation which consists of significant and ongoing investment in access to effective mental and behavioural health services. That is true innovation." BetterUp Canada Inc. developed the study's coaching methodology with Martin Seligman, PhD, the Zellerbach Family Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, director of the university's Positive Psychology Center, and a former president of the American Psychological Association. Widely regarded as the founder of the field of positive psychology, Seligman has built resilience programs for the U.S. Army, global healthcare organizations, and school systems. He is the author of more than 30 books and 350 scientific articles. He has served on BetterUp's Science Board since 2018 and has been involved in the Ontario study since its inception. "The most significant impact I anticipate from this study is a definitive, large-scale answer to a question that has been hard to test rigorously: can we build psychological resilience in people before they are in crisis, and does it protect them from the occupational toll of high-stress work?" said Seligman. "I've been waiting my whole career to do this study. If the results bear out what the science predicts, this will be among the most important applied research on human resilience ever conducted, and it will have been done on exactly the population that needs it most." Ontario-based first responders and healthcare workers can check their eligibility to receive six months of free one-on-one coaching, and may be compensated for their participation. Those interested can learn more here. BetterUp Canada Inc. is headquartered in Toronto and leads the Ontario Frontline Study as its flagship research initiative. President's Choice cookies recalled across Canada due to metal wire.

President's Choice cookies recalled across Canada due to metal wire. Oct 9 2026, 7:46 am President's Choice cookies are the latest grocery product that's part of a nationwide recall that shoppers should be aware of. Canadians are urged to check their pantry after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced on Thursday that Loblaw Companies Limited has issued a recall for its brand cookies due to "extraneous material." The product is sold at Loblaw locations. According to the notice, the company is recalling the President's Choice English-Style Gingersnap Cookies due to the presence of metal wire. The affected lot comes in a 350g box with the universal product code 0 60383 76819 5. It also has the best-before dates 2027 FE 08 and 2027 MR 14. "Do not use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected product," states the notice. The CFIA has classified it as a class two recall. This means that "there is a moderate risk that consuming the food may lead to short-term or non-life-threatening health problems." For public enquiries, Canadians can contact the CFIA at [email protected] or 1 (613) 773-2342. You can also report any health or safety concerns online. There have been several other food recalls recently, so it's worth checking if you purchased any of the affected products recently. On Tuesday, Loblaw recalled two brands of seafood products sold nationwide due to an undeclared ingredient that could trigger an allergic reaction. A popular brand of hot pepper paste was recently recalled due to undeclared wheat. Consumers with a wheat allergy or those with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should not consume the products. The So Delicious Dairy-Free Salted Caramel frozen dessert was also recalled due to the potential presence of plastic-like and gravel-like pieces. With files from Natalia Buia
