Requirements
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience required

  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and well-being program experience required
  • Thorough understanding of benefit and wellness plan design and management
  • Experience with implementation and communication of employee benefit and wellbeing programs
  • A proven history of influencing senior leadership with a combination of deep subject matter expertise, relationship-building abilities, and a passion to create competitive, equitable and inclusive programs that contribute to a great company culture
  • Experience in leading large-scale projects with heavy change management requirements
  • Demonstrated experience building and coaching a high performing and engaged team, as well as working cross-functionally with key dependencies in other departments
  • Ability to work with confidential information with high levels of discretion
  • Strong team player and servant-leadership approach to working with the community
  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal wage and hours laws, including, but not limited to, FLSA, FMLA, PFML, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, Section 125, and Workers’ Compensation
  • Experience with administering defined contribution plans
  • Experience with implementing and working with Human Capital Management Systems
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and the ability to communicate tactfully across all levels within the organization
Responsibilities
  • Partner with leadership to define, develop, communicate, and execute a competitive strategy that includes employee benefit programs, well-being benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off programs, and other reward and recognition programs, that is cost effective and aligned with trends in the market and organizational objectives
  • Manage the design of group life, medical, dental, disability, accident, critical illness and other ancillary benefit programs to assure alignment to company business objectives and external market-competitiveness
  • Partners with Occupational Health Services in the administration of leave of absence policy creation and administration
  • Ensure that HSL’s strategy is aligned with and supports the vision of a more inclusive and diverse community
  • As a subject matter expert propose, design and implement industry best practices and lead effective, competitive, inclusive and fair benefits and well-being programs
  • Provide strategic day-to-day leadership to the Benefits and well-being team, including coaching, motivating and providing opportunities for development
  • Ensures staff is knowledgeable about programs and are following all federal, state, and local legal requirements. Foster a collaborative, value-driven team culture of high standards, strong productivity, and innovation
  • Conduct and analyze internally and externally the effectiveness of existing executive and staff benefit and well-being programs and policies and practices to inform the program direction in the future. Intentional focus on developing internal talent through coaching, mentoring, influencing, and advocating
  • Manages execution and implementation of initiatives using status, milestones, risk, and quality key performance indicators (KPIs) and other success measures. Facilitates meetings with stakeholders to track and report on deliverable progress and to identify and mitigate risks. Monitor the impact to budget and advise the organization appropriately
  • Manages relationships with vendors, brokers, and carriers, including monitoring service levels, costs, utilization, and other metrics to ensure a positive employee experience and value to the organization
  • Partners with benefit broker to understand market trends and assess, design, and refine HSL’s total rewards strategy to ensure HSL is well positioned competitively to attract and retain talent
  • Develops strategy for communication and education about benefit programs across HSL
  • Manages compliance requirements including, but not limited to, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Form 5500 filings, OSHA, nondiscrimination testing, and audits utilizing established vendors
  • Leads continuous improvement of processes and procedures to drive efficiencies, reduce manual processes, and improve the employee experience
  • Partners with other functions in areas such as legal, finance, risk management, and Occupational Health, to build new programs, manage risk to the organization, and understand legal implications to policy or design changes.
  • Work closely with Benefits team and Compensation team overseeing and refining the process for handling benefits and earned time related to LOAs

Hebrew SeniorLife secures $200,000 MassDEP grant for energy upgrades in Brookline. The grant will support clean energy and high-performance energy efficiency upgrades at Center Communities of Brookline's 108 Centre Street building. * home * news * Hebrew SeniorLife secures $200,000 MassDEP grant for energy upgrades in Brookline. Hebrew SeniorLife, New England's largest nonprofit provider of senior health care and living communities, has been awarded a $200,000 Gap III Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The MassDEP funding supports the implementation of clean energy and high-performance energy efficiency upgrades at 108 Centre Street, a 100% affordable supportive housing community for older adults in Brookline. 108 Centre Street is the newest addition to Hebrew SeniorLife's Center Communities of Brookline campus. The project combines deep energy efficiency investments with rooftop solar energy generation, enhancing resident comfort, reducing environmental impact, and lowering long-term operating costs for the 54-unit building. Energy efficiency measures 108 Centre Street incorporates a range of energy efficiency measures designed to meet Passive House Institute US standards. These include: high-performance insulation, triple-glazed windows, energy-efficient doors and superior air sealing, and green screen installation to reduce solar heat gain. These enhancements are projected to reduce building energy consumption by 188,680 kWh annually, representing a 62.94% reduction compared to an IECC Baseline Building. Annual cost savings are estimated at $28,300. 108 Centre Street also features a 37.44 kW rooftop solar PV system expected to generate 40,622 kWh, covering approximately 37% of the building's annual total electricity usage. "We're grateful for MassDEP's support, which enables us to demonstrate that affordable housing and environmental leadership can go hand in hand."
