About the job
- Be a civil engineering technician.
- Have at least one year of experience in municipal and/or road engineering.
- Have experience in underground infrastructure construction, including water supply and sewer systems.
- Ensure activities comply with project requirements, including schedules, budgets, and technical decisions, and that collected information is accurate and reliable.
- Be present at the construction site to verify that work complies with plans and specifications.
- Study plans and specifications and visit the site before work begins.
- Use appropriate instruments to perform quality control of layouts and infrastructure installation.
- Measure completed work using appropriate instruments.
- Write the daily site log and send reports to the client weekly.
- Photograph all important aspects of the project.
- Ensure signage around the site is adequate and comply with traffic-signage plans.
- Verify and locate existing boundary markers, reference points, and geodetic benchmarks.
- Validate the layout of structures to provide the City with information for as-built plans.
- Write and send memos to the contractor and send a copy to the client the same day.
- Be present whenever the quality-assurance representative conducts tests and takes samples.
- Ensure materials delivered to the site comply with plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Measure items in the schedule of quantities in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Obtain approval for payment recommendations.
- Identify corrections required before preliminary and final inspections.
- Verify work in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Validate installation of erosion-control measures and water-diversion measures.
