Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry is required.
- Industry-specific certification, including Project Management Professional, American Engineering and Construction Project Management Association, or Design-Build Institute of America certification, is required.
- Demonstrated senior project management success managing a single large project or a portfolio of smaller projects is required.
- Advanced understanding of core engineering disciplines, project execution, and delivery in design and construction is required.
- Experience managing the design process and relationships between design and construction to ensure quality, budget-conscious, complete documents are delivered on schedule is required.
- Ability to lead and manage integrated teams including strategic partners and subcontractors is required.
- Understanding of integrated project delivery, including design, procurement, commissioning, qualification, and validation, and construction processes is required.
- Proficiency with typical software tools, including the Microsoft Suite, safety, and scheduling tools, is required.
- Design/build experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies and plans to deliver projects and services effectively and efficiently.
- Oversee a single large project or multiple projects as the principal project representative.
- Manage client relationships and create positive client experiences that support future work.
- Lead the CRB team and owner through business case alignment and chartering phases.
- Lead project execution plan development.
- Partner with preconstruction teams on constructability, procurement, logistics planning, scope reviews, budgeting, and costing.
- Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules and timelines.
- Monitor and approve costs, provide cost-forecasting input, and authorize expenses and workflows within signing limits.
- Develop, monitor, track, and negotiate project costs to ensure successful and profitable projects.
- Ensure preconstruction work carries over into the field and that pre-mobilization activities are completed, including project execution plans, baseline execution plans, site requirements, and permitting.
- Lead coordinated procurement planning involving long-lead equipment, trade partners, subcontractors, and enabling work.
- Lead estimate development and facilities reviews, control scope creep, and manage project closeout planning.
- Spot-check quality documents, field reports, and logs for completeness and accuracy.
- Participate in site safety walks, ensure appropriate tracking software is used, and coordinate with client site safety representatives.
- Develop project-specific quality management plans, monitor work sites, address quality concerns, and complete compliance documentation.
- Participate in pull-planning sessions to create clarity and common understanding.
- Create and validate financial forecasts and protect the company's financial interests while maintaining client relationships.
- Develop execution strategies and establish projects for successful delivery.
- Communicate with sponsors, stakeholders, and business leaders throughout projects.
- Provide overall leadership and direction to project teams.
- Build healthy, high-performing teams consisting of CRB staff, subconsultants, owners, and trade partners.
- Monitor team health and intervene as needed across internal teams, external partners, and clients.
- Manage end-to-end project delivery through chartering, safety, design, preconstruction, permitting, construction, document control, procurement, commissioning and qualification, automation, consulting, and warranty.
- Ensure project teams maintain the required standard of care and follow CRB policies, procedures, contracts, and applicable laws.
- Ensure required management tools, systems, best practices, and key performance indicators are established and used.
- Coordinate strategies, logistics, sequencing, and required design packages with architects and engineers.
- Lead client contract negotiations and work with legal to document and administer contractual requirements.
- Approve subcontractor awards, ensure standard contracts and purchase orders are used, and review statements of work.
- Lead preparation of guaranteed maximum prices and incorporate contract risk mitigation.
- Identify risks, formulate mitigation plans, lead internal risk reviews, and assist with claims resolution.
- Build and maintain client relationships, manage project interactions, resolve conflicts, conduct principal-level meetings, and solicit client feedback.
- Negotiate and manage prime contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
- Identify business-development opportunities, participate in major pursuits, lead request-for-proposal responses, develop winning strategies, and coach presentation teams.
- Maintain connections with site teams and ensure planned resources are available.
- Monitor team and individual performance, coach teams, course-correct staffing, and hold people accountable, including reviewing and issuing performance improvement plans with human resources and senior leadership involvement.
- Identify hiring needs, recruit candidates, participate in interviews, contribute to offers, and support candidates through acceptance and onboarding.
- Mentor, coach, and train team members and project managers.
- Support team members' development goals and provide constructive feedback during review cycles.
- Handle personnel issues and situations effectively and drive timely resolution.
