Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mining engineering.
  • Membership in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • A permit allowing full practice as an engineer in Quebec and the ability to sign and seal engineering plans and documents under the person's responsibility.
  • Relevant experience in underground mining operations or development.
  • A good understanding of underground development and mining methods.
  • Experience in mine planning and preparing underground work plans.
  • Knowledge of mining design and planning software such as Deswik, AutoCAD, MinePlan, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of Quebec regulations applicable to underground mining operations.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Fluency in French.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and update underground mine development plans.
  • Participate in short- and medium-term planning of mining work.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and sign or seal plans and engineering documents within the scope of practice.
  • Produce and validate drilling and blasting plans when required.
  • Participate in the design of excavations, ramps, drifts, and underground infrastructure.
  • Monitor work progress against plans and schedules.
  • Work closely with the mining contractor to optimize work sequences and productivity.
  • Conduct regular underground visits and inspections to validate work execution.
  • Monitor quantities, development meters, excavated volumes, and other performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with geology, surveying, geotechnical, environmental, and health and safety teams.
  • Participate in developing and improving standards, procedures, and work methods for underground operations.
  • Identify technical and operational issues and propose solutions suited to the conditions encountered.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, sound engineering practices, and applicable Quebec regulatory requirements.
  • Provide daily technical support to the Mining Operations Director and project team.
  • Perform other duties related to the position.
