Responsibilities
Develop menus and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks five days a week for residents and staff.
Plan and prepare meals and snacks that residential staff can cook or reheat and serve in the chef's absence.
Collaborate with staff to ensure meals and snacks are served according to direction.
Ensure meals are balanced and nutritious, with limited sugar and sweets.
Serve meals using proper portions and clean up after meal preparation while adhering to food safety guidelines.
Order and purchase food, track food inventory, and ensure ingredients are fresh and unspoiled.
Complete supplemental shopping as needed.
Maintain a minimum seven-day food supply and rotate stock according to food industry protocols.
Adhere to budget guidelines and responsibilities established with management.
Comply with sanitation, personal hygiene, and health standards.
Apply proper food preparation and handling techniques.
Store food safely and properly, marking the date and item.
Report necessary equipment repairs and maintenance to the supervisor.
Prepare all food served according to the established menu and resident food restrictions.
Plan food production around meal serving hours to preserve the quality, temperature, and appearance of food.

Job Summary: The Chef is responsible for the successful provision of balanced and nutritious meals for the residents and staff of Morning Star. This comprises, but is not limited to planning, purchasing inventory for and preparation of all meals and snacks. This also includes compliance with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
