Requirements
- A Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 3 years of nursing experience, or a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with an associate degree and 6 years of nursing experience.
- Hold current licensure in the state where applying to teach.
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
- Meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of nursing practice and broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Be able to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Be able to work independently without close supervision.
- Demonstrate successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have current knowledge or experience in a clinical setting.
- Obtain Assessment Technology Institute (ATI) certification within 30 days of hire; certification is offered by Unitek.
- Hold current immunizations and Basic Life Support certification.
- Be available Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and using innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
- Demonstrate or acquire skills for using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Assist with reviewing and revising course syllabi and instructional guidelines within the program.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the program director on time.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Maintain student attendance, grades, and skills check-off records, and assist with program data collection by established deadlines.
- Assist with updating and maintaining student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
- Teach courses at varied times and locations according to program needs, including lecture content and clinical rotations on weekdays or weekends, during days or evenings.
- Participate in professional development, maintain continuing education hours for license renewal, and stay current with college updates.
- Participate in assigned committees as availability permits, prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
- Visit clinical sites.
