Responsibilities
  • Support drafting and development of creative content for marketing and communications materials, including social media and website content.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials for ACP events, including emails, social media posts, and website updates.
  • Contribute to marketing campaigns for ACP initiatives and announcements, collaborating with the membership, research, and policy teams.
  • Assist with branded apparel initiatives, including order processing and coordination with design partners.
  • Participate in creating graphics for social media, email campaigns, and marketing materials using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Assist with post-campaign reviews to analyze effectiveness, return on investment, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to ACP’s new website through research, content migration, photo gathering, and related tasks.
  • Support organization and maintenance of digital assets, including photos, reports, talking points, and other multimedia materials.
  • Participate in additional projects as needed to support the marketing team’s priorities.
  • Split time between a semester-long project, with topic and scope refined during the first week, and supporting day-to-day marketing priorities as needed.

ACP, state wildlife agencies launch guidelines for utility-scale solar development. American Clean Power Association and national wildlife groups developed first-ever guidelines that address solar project planning through decommissioning to ensure the needs for rapid energy deployment are balanced with wildlife habitat preservation. Sep 22 2026 Utility-scale solar, one of the most rapidly deployed and affordable energy sources, can also provide habitat benefits for certain species. Developing solar on large swaths of land, however, may also adversely impact wildlife and their habitats without proper planning and communication. Recognizing the need to balance development with wildlife protection, American Clean Power Association (ACP) worked with Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) and Energy and Wildlife Action Coalition (EWAC) to develop the National Utility-Scale Solar Wildlife Guidelines. The conservation considerations and priorities vary from region to region and state to state and keeping track of them can be daunting. However, the guidelines stress that by considering wildlife and habitat early on and then throughout the project, unintended impacts can be avoided. Impacts on wildlife discovered late in the process may not only harm the ecosystem but can cause costly delays for solar projects. An example of such a delay is the Soda Mountain Solar Project, the development of which was halted more than a decade ago when local officials in San Bernardino County in California voted to block the development, citing environmental impacts on federal lands, specifically raising concerns about the migratory paths of desert bighorn sheep. Just recently the California Energy Commission issued a recommendation to move the project forward. "State fish and wildlife agencies are entrusted with protecting our natural resources for generations to come," said Paul Johansen, past president of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies and chief of the Wildlife Resources Section for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. "These guidelines show how agencies and solar developers can work together, using sound science and early communication to meet our energy goals while safeguarding the fish and wildlife the public cherishes." The guidelines include a Communication Framework for Solar Energy Project Proponents and State Fish and Wildlife Agencies that state agencies can use in science-based decision making, while also being flexible about site-specific issues and individual state processes. "This balanced framework reflects that commitment and provides a model for how industry and agencies can work together to address complex conservation and infrastructure challenges as energy demand rises nationally," said John Anderson, executive director of the Energy and Wildlife Action Coalition. As the guidelines are voluntary and designed to improve communication between parties, they are not intended to replace or preempt existing federal, state, or local fish and wildlife-related authorities, permitting requirements, or established review procedures. Instead, they are expected to complement existing processes and support site assessment, project development, construction and operations in areas where formal wildlife-related permitting or review processes may be limited or non-existent. The guidelines address six stages of solar project planning, development and operations, with a summary of the approach, communications triggers, and key considerations included for each: 1. Relationship building (between the developer and state agency) 2. Preliminary area evaluation 3. Site characterization and design 4. Construction 5. Operations 6. Decommissioning Topics covered include species of interest, habitat connectivity, seasonality of certain wildlife considerations, vegetation management, fencing, voluntary conservation opportunities, and beneficial effects of solar projects. There is also consideration of the priorities of state fish and wildlife agencies. Furthermore, the framework takes into account potential limitations on developers due to other factors involved in project siting and design. ACP represents energy storage, wind, utility-scale solar, and transmission companies and is committed to "meeting America's energy and national security goals and building our economy with fast-growing, low-cost, and reliable domestic power." The EWAC assists members in managing natural resources issues associated with the development, generation, transmission, or sale of electricity. The organization's primary mission is to "promote public policies that are based on sound science, protective of wildlife and natural resources, practical, and efficient." AFWA represents North America's fish and wildlife agencies to advance sound, science-based management and conservation of fish and wildlife and their habitats in the public interest. American Clean Power Association appoints Ken Young as Board Chair. 24th August 2026 The American Clean Power Association (ACP) has appointed Ken Young, CEO of Apex Clean Energy, as Chair of its Board of Directors. The organization has also appointed three new directors as it strengthens its leadership amid rising electricity demand and growing focus on clean energy deployment in the United States. Young previously served as ACP Board Chair-Elect and will now lead the association's Board as it works to advance reliable and affordable clean power, strengthen U.S. energy security and support the development of a resilient domestic energy sector. As CEO of Apex Clean Energy, Young oversees the company's strategy as well as the origination, development, construction and operation of utility-scale wind, solar, energy storage and distributed energy projects. During his more than 10 years in leadership at Apex, the company has commercialized more than 11 GW of projects. He previously served as the company's Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Operations. The ACP Board has also welcomed Justin Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Arevon; Robert L. Tabb, President and Chief Executive Officer of CoVolt Power; and Caroline Mead, Senior Vice President of Power Marketing at ENGIE North America. Johnson and Tabb join the Board as representatives of new ACP member companies, while Mead succeeds David Carroll, who stepped down from the Board following a new professional opportunity. In his role as Chair, Young will focus on advancing a long-term policy platform for the clean energy industry and strengthening collaboration across clean energy technologies. He will also continue supporting PowerVets, an ACP initiative focused on supporting veterans working in the clean energy sector. Before joining Apex Clean Energy, Young held leadership positions at Vestas Wind Systems and renewable energy owner-operators. He began his career as a U.S. Army infantry officer and is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the University of Notre Dame, where he earned an MBA.

GE Vernova, Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) and MasTec are joining as inaugural adopting companies, marking a major step toward building the workforce infrastructure needed to meet growing energy demand. Developed with leading clean energy companies, the certification program creates a consistent, industry-recognized way to validate technician skills, strengthen safety and operational excellence, and support clearer career pathways for workers. May 7 2026 Washington, D.C. - May 7, 2026 - The American Clean Power Association (ACP) today announced that Brett White has been named Vice President of Markets and Transmission. In this role, White will lead ACP's efforts on electricity markets, transmission planning, generator interconnection, and broader regulatory initiatives critical to advancing America's clean energy future. White joined ACP in January 2026 as Deputy General Counsel and brings more than 13 years of experience spanning federal energy regulation, wholesale electricity markets, renewable energy policy, transmission planning, and utility regulation. Prior to joining ACP, White served as Senior Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs at Pine Gate Renewables, where he led the company's regulatory and government affairs strategy across a nationwide portfolio of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
