Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, with eligibility for an appropriate certification examination; acceptable certifying agencies include the American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Certification Agency, American Medical Technologists, American Association of Bioanalysts, and Health and Human Services (HEW).
  • An associate's degree in laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, plus certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; acceptable certifying agencies include the American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Certification Agency, American Medical Technologists, American Association of Bioanalysts, and Health and Human Services (HEW).
  • Graduation from a military program in science, including health science, biology, chemical science, physical science, or medical technology, plus certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; acceptable certifying agencies include the American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Certification Agency, American Medical Technologists, American Association of Bioanalysts, and Health and Human Services (HEW).
  • Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
  • Must submit to a color-acuity screening test.
Responsibilities
  • Be knowledgeable in the operation of every laboratory section.
  • Perform the duties of a Medical Technologist III.
  • Assist the supervisor and take charge in the absence of the supervisor in monitoring shift operations in all sections of the laboratory.
