- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One year of industry experience is required.
- Knowledge of land surveying practices, basic survey types, mathematical computations, and field operations is required.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions and environments is required.
- Availability to travel and stay out of town for work as needed is required.
- A valid driver's license and ability to meet company motor vehicle record standards are required.
- Use land survey instruments to support a field crew in gathering data for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
- Assist with field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief, communicate progress, and address problems.
- Operate robotic total stations, global navigation satellite system receivers, data radios and modems, terrestrial three-dimensional laser scanners, and automatic and digital levels.
- Use survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
- Read and interpret maps and plans.
- Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements under Crew Chief supervision.
- Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies.
- Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices.
- Travel out of state to project locations as needed.

Peak Rock Capital has sold SAM Companies, a geospatial and inspection services provider for utilities and critical infrastructure, to New Mountain Capital. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under Peak Rock's ownership since 2021, SAM more than doubled revenue, completed 19 acquisitions, and expanded from its original footprint to add 25 offices. The company now serves 20 of the top 25 US utilities, providing end-to-end geospatial intelligence services across the critical infrastructure lifecycle. SAM, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, uses advanced scientific methods to capture and analyse infrastructure data, supporting grid modernisation and AI-driven infrastructure investment. The company has developed technical and AI capabilities positioning it as an industry leader in the sector. Guggenheim Securities and Houlihan Lokey advised on the transaction.
