  • Law degree.
  • Maintaining state bar license requirements through necessary continuing legal education, with study emphasis in real estate, construction, financing, business, and corporate law.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-activity environment, handle ambiguity, manage multiple matters concurrently, and shift quickly between tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Responsibilities
  • Participate and collaborate with Asset Management teams on all lease transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate leases, primarily complex leases and leases for other large-space users, letters of intent, subleases, amendments, assignments, temporary license agreements, and other related leasing documents.
  • Provide legal assistance and direction to the company regarding the legal aspects of strategic acquisitions, financing, and leasing matters.
  • Act as counsel to the company on matters requiring legal review and assistance, and liaise with outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Manage the lease contract approval process and interact with governmental agencies and lenders as required.
  • Maintain and distribute legal documents and templates for repetitive use by the Asset Management and Property Management departments, including added and alternate provisions.
  • Develop and create policies and procedures for producing and handling real estate legal documents and information derived from Real Estate Department documents.
  • Complete other special projects or assignments as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Admission in good standing with a state bar, preferably Texas.
  • Five to seven years of legal experience at a respected law firm in the commercial real estate department or in-house at a real estate company focused on acquisitions, leasing, and compliance advising and counseling the company on legal risk.
  • Experience managing and leading teams in growth environments.
