Responsibilities
  • Provide residents with restaurant-quality meals and desserts.
  • Create, prepare, and present residents’ meals.
  • Maintain dietary operations to meet monthly food, supplies, and wage budgets.
  • Schedule and post daily work assignments for culinary staff, ensuring adequate personnel are on duty for meal preparation and service while maintaining staffing guidelines.
  • Maintain and document proper hygienic food-handling techniques and sanitation requirements established by the local Health Department for food-service operations and personnel.
  • Interact with residents during meals to build personal relationships and assess satisfaction levels.
  • Work with corporate recruiters to source, interview, and hire qualified culinary staff.
  • Onboard new employees through the documented Culinary Training program and conduct three monthly in-person evaluations during the first 90 days.
  • Lead the Culinary Team with fairness, discipline, and an inclusive working environment.
  • Set up food and supplies for special events in coordination with the Executive Director, Life Enrichment Director, or Sales Department.
  • Oversee the proper use and maintenance of culinary equipment and report equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Verify daily that team members adhere to grooming standards and wear the proper uniform.
  • Carry out emergency procedures required during the shift.
  • Participate in welcome orientations with new residents and document dietary requirements.
  • Engage in prospective resident visits.
  • Maintain applicable regulatory compliance.
  • Use the software applications, programs, and tools required for the Culinary Director position.
  • Enforce the information in the employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director or Corporate Office.
