Linkener lands €7.5M from Alantra's Klima to roll up Spain's fragmented business energy software market.

Linkener lands €7.5M from Alantra's Klima to roll up Spain's fragmented business energy software market. October 19, 2026 * Spanish startup Linkener raised €7.5M in a round led by Alantra's Klima fund. * It plans to build its own AI models and buy complementary companies. * Its customer, savings and energy figures are self-reported and unaudited. Spanish energy technology startup Linkener has raised €7.5 million in a round led by Klima, the energy transition fund of investment bank Alantra. Existing investor GoHub Ventures remains a shareholder. The company will spend the money on product development, proprietary AI models, and acquisitions. It is the second AI-led energy software company Klima has backed. The fund also led Dexter Energy's €23 million Series C in July 2025. Dexter serves renewable asset owners and traders. Linkener sits at the other end of the chain, selling to businesses that buy and use energy. From energy monitoring to actionable savings. Linkener's Intelligent Energy Management System (SIGE) combines its own remote metering hardware, data analytics, and AI. Customers use it to track consumption, validate energy bills, analyse electricity contracts, and flag anomalies that point to savings. According to the company, it serves more than 2,000 customers and manages 10,000 energy supply points. It says those points account for 1.7 TWh of annual consumption, which it compares to a city of roughly 400,000 people. Linkener is part software house, part installer, and the investment case rests on the software side growing faster. The new AI models are meant to automate invoice processing, validate consumption data, spot irregularities, and generate recommendations from millions of daily data points. "This funding round will allow us to accelerate the transformation of a highly fragmented sector, where energy management remains rooted in practices from 40 years ago. We want businesses to have reliable data and technology to understand how much they spend on energy, anticipate their costs and make better decisions," said José Ignacio Ruiz, CEO of Linkener. Klima backs consolidation in a fragmented market. Acquisitions are a stated part of the plan. Linkener intends to buy companies that add complementary products, technologies, and services, then fold them into one platform. "Energy management for businesses and organisations remains a highly fragmented market with enormous potential for digitisation. Linkener combines proprietary technology, independent energy data and direct relationships with thousands of customers, creating a distinctive foundation on which to add further capabilities and solutions. Our investment aims to support the team in this next stage of growth, both organically and through acquisitions, with the goal of building a leading technology platform for energy management," stated Iñigo Echaniz, partner at Klima. GoHub Ventures first invested in 2019 and is staying in. "This funding round opens a new chapter that puts us at the heart of the sector, exceptionally well positioned to scale and consolidate the market. We are very excited to continue our support because we believe they truly lead the sector in their approach to AI and technology," added Víctor Vercher, Partner at GoHub Ventures. Competition and market outlook. European energy software has drawn steady funding. Dutch startup Tibo Energy raised €6 million in seed funding in June 2025 for AI-driven energy management at industrial sites. Finnish company Capalo AI raised €11 million in Series A funding in February 2026 to optimise battery storage and renewable assets. Nomos raised $20 million from Index Ventures to tackle European energy costs. Most of these companies target different parts of the value chain than Linkener, but they share the same thesis: software can turn messy energy data into cheaper decisions. Proof is the harder part. The International Energy Agency reports that energy service company projects delivered average savings of around 25% in 2024, with established markets such as Europe reporting 20%-30%. That is an industry benchmark, not a Linkener result, and the company's own savings figures have not been independently audited. An acquisition-led plan raises the stakes. Linkener will need to integrate new businesses, keep its data clean across them, and show customers measurable returns. The €7.5 million gives it room to start, and the first deal will show how it intends to use it.

Linkener raises $8.5M led by Alantra's energy transition fund to scale AI energy management

Energy technology startup Linkener has raised €7.5 million in a round led by Klima Energy Transition Fund, the energy transition fund of Alantra. GoHub Ventures remains a shareholder. The company plans to grow organically and by acquiring products and companies that expand its business. It also wants to speed up development of its technology and its own artificial intelligence (AI) models for energy management. Linkener's Intelligent Energy Management System (SIGE) uses AI and data analysis to process energy invoices, detect anomalies, and suggest savings. Clients can monitor consumption with their own data and receive alerts and recommendations. The startup serves more than 2,000 clients and manages 10,000 supply points. It administers 1.7 terawatt hours a year, equal to the consumption of a city of 400,000 people.

The company is studying a possible sale of its industrial engineering business, according to Democrata on October 14, 2026. Discover more Hire Contractors Read Economics Learn Engineering Sale review changes the mix. Sacyr has hired Alantra to analyze a possible disposal of its industrial engineering division, which operates through Sacyr Proyecta. The unit has estimated annual turnover of EUR 50 million and EBITDA of EUR 14 million, while Sacyr says it is exploring strategic opportunities without announcing a final decision, Democrata reported. The review fits Sacyr's stated emphasis on concessions, transport, healthcare and water infrastructure. Its investor-relations page describes concessions as the group's driving activity and lists water and engineering as complementary areas, while FY 2025 figures show EUR 4,660 million revenue and EUR 1,358 million EBITDA, Sacyr states. What does the sale review mean? The potential disposal would favor a smaller engineering footprint if proceeds support debt reduction and concession investment. That interpretation matters because Sacyr's first-half 2026 results showed net income of EUR 78 million, up 157 percent from a year earlier, while revenue rose 9 percent to EUR 2,437 million, Finanzas reported on October 7, 2026. Concessions generated EUR 977 million revenue and EUR 402 million EBITDA in the first half of 2026. The water division added EUR 185 million revenue, up 33 percent, and its backlog reached EUR 8,200 million, up 18 percent from the end of 2025, according to Finanzas. Stock stays below yearly high. Sacyr's market capitalization was EUR 3.1 billion as of October 15, 2026, with a 52-week range of EUR 3.55 to EUR 4.95. Saxo listed a consensus target of EUR 5.41 from nine analysts on October 7, 2026. That target lies 36.96 percent above the Lang & Schwarz price, although the review remains an exploratory step rather than a completed transaction. Sacyr stock was trading at EUR 3.95 at Lang & Schwarz on October 15, 2026, at 11:14 a.m. CEST, 20.20 percent below its EUR 4.95 52-week high. Alantra expands its Energy Transition investment offering with the launch of a dedicated secondaries strategy.

Alantra expands its Energy Transition investment offering with the launch of a dedicated secondaries strategy. Alantra has launched a dedicated secondaries strategy within its Energy Transition asset class through Horizon Secondaries, F.C.R., a c. €120mn (USD 140mn) investment vehicle, backed by anchor investor CommonWealth Investments, alongside international institutional investors including Blue Earth Capital's impact secondaries strategy and Swisscanto's World Carbon Solutions fund. The vehicle has acquired a portfolio of around 10 innovative growth companies across North America, Europe, and Asia from Shell Ventures. The Energy Transition market is entering a more mature phase, creating a growing number of secondary investment opportunities as existing shareholders seek liquidity while companies continue to scale. Alantra believes this development creates an attractive opportunity to invest in established businesses with further growth potential. Alantra's experience in the asset class includes investments in primary growth-stage Energy Transition companies through Klima and the recently launched Klima II, which has secured a €70mn commitment from the European Investment Fund, as well as clean-energy infrastructure investments, with 565 MW of capacity acquired to date. The new secondaries strategy builds on this track record and extends Alantra's offering across primary and secondary markets. Horizon Secondaries is the first vehicle launched under the new strategy, which is intended to pursue further secondary investment opportunities through dedicated vehicles. It is also the third vehicle launched by Alantra Asset Management this year to provide investors with access to direct investment opportunities in pre-identified assets, following the Health in Code continuation vehicle and the Salto co-investment vehicle. Patricia Pascual-Ramsay, CEO of Alantra Asset Management, said: "The launch of this new business line is an important step in the continued development of Alantra Asset Management and reinforces Energy Transition as one of our strategic growth areas. The market has reached a point where a growing number of high-quality companies are becoming accessible through secondary transactions, creating a compelling long-term opportunity for investors. Our experience across the asset class gives us a deep understanding of the underlying technologies, business models and market dynamics, allowing us to identify opportunities where we believe we can deliver differentiated value." Guido Geheniau, Director at CommonWealth Investments, commented: "As an independent Amsterdam based investment office with a long track record in secondaries, we know how much value there is in well-run, growth-stage businesses where one shareholder is ready to move on while others stay in for the next phase of growth. Horizon Secondaries lets us apply that same patient, hands-on approach at an international scale, partnering with Alantra's asset management team." Nicolas Muller, Managing Director, Head of Private Equity Partnerships at Blue Earth Capital, added: "This transaction is an important milestone for Blue Earth Capital's impact secondaries strategy. A generation of energy transition companies has matured over the past decade, yet the liquidity options available to their early backers have not kept pace. We are delighted to partner with Alantra to help close that gap and build a more efficient secondary market for climate and energy transition assets." Quennie Co, Managing Partner, Shell Ventures, said:"Alantra's focus on high-growth businesses and its global footprint mean it is well-placed to support these companies as they continue to scale. Today's announcement, which represents a small proportion of the Shell Ventures' quality portfolio, reflects our strategic focus on concentrating our support where we can have the greatest impact. We remain committed to investing, deploying and scaling innovative energy solutions." The transaction remains subject to transfer and closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Alantra Asset Management currently has c. €3.2bn of fee-earning assets under management across Private Equity, Private Debt, Active Funds, and Energy strategies, of which c. €450mn are invested in the Energy Transition asset class. As part of its 2026-2028 strategic plan, the firm aims to grow fee-earning assets under management to c. €10bn, supported by the continued expansion of its existing investment capabilities and the selective acquisition of specialized European asset managers.
