Ability to operate equipment safely and responsibly in accordance with Motor Vehicle Act standards and Emil Anderson Group internal standards.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions in a labour-intensive role.
A valid Canadian driver’s licence with a clean abstract, with a minimum Class 3 licence and Air Brake endorsement.
Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, including on-call work during snow events.
Ability to work safely as a condition of employment.
Compliance with company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and participating in applicable toolbox talks and safety training.
Responsibilities
Clear obstructed drainage systems, perform roadside vegetation maintenance, patch potholes, and remove litter and debris from the highway right-of-way.
Remove snow and ice using snow-removal and sanding equipment.
Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Change snowplow blades.
Perform required maintenance and service work on equipment and plow trucks.
Respond to winter roadway incidents and emergency conditions as required.
Desired Qualifications
Previous snowplowing and heavy equipment experience.
Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1.
Effective communication with co-workers and supervisors.

Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM) is the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT) highway and bridge maintenance contractor for three service areas in British Columbia: Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley), Service Area 20 (Robson), and Service Area 26 (Skeena).

The Opportunity
We are seeking applications for winter highway maintenance workers/labourers for the Service Area 26 (Skeena), which includes Terrace, Kitimat and Gitlaxt’aamiks. This is a seasonal, full-time position consisting of manual labour and operating plow trucks. Multiple positions available.
As a Winter Highway Maintenance Worker with Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM), you’ll help keep roads safe and reliable throughout the winter season. You’ll operate plow and sanding trucks, support hands on road repairs, and work with a skilled crew to respond quickly and work safely in all weather. This is a physically demanding, labour intensive role that involves outdoor work in cold, snowy conditions and extended shifts when needed. Although we are a union affiliated organization, being an active member is not a prerequisite.
Your Key Responsibilities
