  • OuterSignal says thousands of brands now process hundreds of millions of orders on-platform.
  • Named customers AG1, HexClad, Jones Road Beauty, and True Classic validate enterprise demand.

OuterSignal raises $22M so every user is Somebody.

OuterSignal raises $22M so every user is Somebody. Every day, hundreds of millions of consumers are marketed to like strangers. OuterSignal Inc. is changing that. Alex Haynes September 30, 2026 Co-led by Long Journey Ventures & Abstract Ventures The gym guy, the new mom, and the grandfather all get the same discount code, the same "items you might like," the same email with their first name dropped into the subject line. That is how most consumer brands still market today. To them, a customer is a row: order #4402, an email address, a discount code. Everything else about the person on the other side of the purchase is a guess. Today OuterSignal is announcing a $22 million Series A so brands can finally know who's behind every order. The round was co-led by Long Journey Ventures and Abstract Ventures, with participation from BAM Ventures, Top Shelf Ventures, SuperAngel.Fund, AME Cloud Ventures, OpenSky and Family Fund, plus dozens of angels and executives from its own customer base. Market to humans, not orders. OuterSignal connects to your CRM or commerce platform and shows you the full profile behind every customer. Beyond name and purchase history, you see age, occupation, education, interests, family, hobbies, and social presence. Everybody is Somebody. * Influencer teams - See which celebrities, athletes, and VIPs have bought from you, and get alerted when a new one does. * Lifecycle marketers - Build audiences on any persona or behavior, so college students, grandfathers, and busy executives each get their own flows and campaigns. * Acquisition teams - Push segments to your media buying platforms and run ads written for doctors, waiters, gamers, or hikers. * Product and merchandising - See the demographics, psychographics, and behavior behind every SKU and category you manage. Launched in january 2026. Thousands of brands since. Brands on OuterSignal are seeing measurable lift across retention, acquisition, conversion, and influencer marketing. What the funding is for. Most of it goes into the team. OuterSignal Raises $22M Series A to Bring Agentic Personalization to Every Consumer Brand TMCnet News [September 30, 2026] | / | OuterSignal Raises $22M Series A to Bring Agentic Personalization to Every Consumer Brand Co-led by Long Journey Ventures and Abstract Ventures, the round follows a January launch and rapid growth that now has OuterSignal powering thousands of consumer businesses and hundreds of millions of orders. NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - OuterSignal, the agentic customer intelligence platform that tells brands who their customers actually are and activates them 1:1, today announced a $22M Series A co-led by Long Journey Ventures and Abstract Ventures, with participation from BAM Ventures, Top Shelf Ventures, SuperAngel.Fund, and Jerry Yang's AME Cloud Ventures. As angels, participation included Dave Heath, Rohan Shah, Alex Haro, Emery Wells, Kim Perell, Michael Preysman, Michael Perry, Ken Nguyen, Raad Mobrem, Zach Sims, Sahil Bloom, Steve Carroll, Michael Loeb, Rich Vogel, Troy Ossinoff, Sahil Bhaiwala, James Beshara and Nik Sharma, along with dozens of executives from OuterSignal's customer base. Every day, hundreds of millions of consumers are treated like strangers. The gym buff, the new mom and the retiree get the same email, see the same products and load the same homepage because brands know almost nothing about who they are. OuterSignal transforms that, using public context to build a full picture of the person behind the purchase. From there, OuterSignal's agents put that to work. That changes the work of nearly every team: * Influencer and partnerships teams learn when a notable customer buys and can reach out while it matters. * Lifecycle marketers build audiences around real personas, so college students and busy executives each get bespoke flows and campaigns written for them. * Acquisition teams send preise segments to media platforms and run ads that speak to the people who actually buy. * Product and merchandising teams see who is behind every SKU and category they manage. OuterSignal customers report measurable lift across retention, acquisition, conversion and influencer marketing. Brands on the platform include AG1, HexClad, Jones Road Beauty, True Classic, Jomashop, Lucy, Gratsi, Magic Mind, and thousands more. "We built OuterSignal to solve the very problem I had running consumer businesses over the last 15 years," said Zach Zelner, co-founder and CEO of OuterSignal. "Generative AI finally makes truly 1:1 experiences possible, but only if you understand each person on the other end. This round allows us to continue building best-in-class intelligence that drives person-level personalization across billions of touchpoints." "OuterSignal's platform unlocks a new paradigm for agentic personalization. Their growth has been remarkable and we're proud to back them as they power delightful marketing and experiences for all consumer businesses," said Ramtin Naimi, Founder & General Partner, Abstract Ventures. "OuterSignal is building something no consumer brand will want to run without. Technology like this is rare, and so is a company that moves this fast. We're thrilled to partner with them," said Lee Jacobs, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Long Journey Ventures. "As a retention team, everything starts with really knowing our customers, and OuterSignal has given us a clearer picture of who they are than we've ever had. It's also uncovered something we didn't expect: a huge number of creators and influencers who already cook with HexClad and love it. OuterSignal has become integral to how we build influencer partnerships, because the best voices for our brand are the ones already in our kitchens," said Noah Pine, Director of Retention at HexClad. "We launch innovation designed to reach new customer targets, and OuterSignal shows us just how distinct those audiences are - data we use to sharpen our messaging and targeting. It's also uncovered creators already engaged with our community, from micro-influencers to major names, that we'd never have found otherwise. We're now building partnerships with people who already know and use the product. That's the difference," said Leala Francis, SVP of Customer Strategy, Product, and Member Experience Innovation at AG1. "We thought we knew who our customer was, but OuterSignal showed us a much fuller picture of the real people buying from us. That changes how we think about everything, from the creators we partner with to how we talk to our community," said Cody Plofker, CEO of Jones Road Beauty. OuterSignal will use the funding to deepen its research engine, build personalization that generates a version of every message for every customer, and grow the team across engineering, go-to-market, operations and customer experience. OuterSignal acquires Monocle to expand AI lifecycle marketing stack.

OuterSignal acquires Monocle to expand AI lifecycle marketing stack. The acquisition connects customer intelligence with AI-led email and SMS journeys, as ecommerce tools move from rules to autonomous decisioning. OuterSignal has acquired Monocle in a deal aimed at linking customer intelligence data with automated lifecycle execution across email, SMS, and onsite channels. The combination targets a common gap in retention marketing: brands often have fragmented customer signals and still rely on rules-based flows, even as teams want more individualized journeys that adjust in real time. Table of contents. Jump to each section: What the OuterSignal and Monocle deal includes. OuterSignal's positioning is upstream: enriching customer records and building precision segments using publicly available signals and intent-oriented data. Monocle's positioning is downstream: AI agents that decide how to engage each shopper, including channel, timing, and offer strategy. Operationally, OuterSignal says Monocle customers will continue to use the product without disruption, with OuterSignal taking over account management and support immediately. Integrations between the platforms are expected to roll out over time, which matters because "combined stack" value typically depends on how tightly identity, segmentation, and orchestration are connected in day-to-day workflows. Why agentic lifecycle marketing is replacing rules-based flows. Rules-based lifecycle programs scale poorly once you move beyond a handful of segments. Even well-run teams end up with brittle "if this then that" trees, frequent manual QA, and constant debates over what discount or message should trigger for each micro-audience. This acquisition aligns with a broader shift in ecommerce tooling toward autonomous decisioning. Instead of marketers hardcoding flows, AI agents increasingly handle: (1) deciding which message to send, (2) choosing the best channel, (3) determining when to engage, and (4) adjusting incentives based on inferred intent and sensitivity. In practice, this is less about eliminating strategy and more about compressing iteration cycles, especially for brands running high-SKU catalogs and frequent promotions. How the combined product could change segmentation and activation. The key promise of pairing customer intelligence with lifecycle automation is closing the loop between "who is this person" and "what should we do next." If OuterSignal can reliably enrich profiles and identify high-value audiences, Monocle's agents can use that context to personalize outreach beyond basic event triggers like browse abandon or post-purchase. OuterSignal has cited performance signals such as up to 9x conversion increases, over 40% ARPU lift, and 10x ROI, while Monocle has cited typical 30% to 50% conversion lift, 20% to 30% ARPU lift, and average 13x ROI. Marketers should treat these as directional until validated in their own environment, but the pattern is instructive: vendors are competing on measurable lift, not just workflow convenience. A practical implication is that personalization may become more "continuous" and less campaign-shaped. When the system can update segments and engagement choices based on fresh signals, the marketer's job shifts toward defining guardrails (brand voice, offer constraints, profitability thresholds) and auditing the agent's decisions for bias, overspending on discounts, or channel cannibalization. Competitive landscape: where this fits versus Klaviyo and others. This deal lands in a crowded ecommerce engagement market that includes platforms such as Klaviyo (email and SMS automation plus data), Bloomreach (personalization and commerce experience), Attentive (SMS-led engagement), and Retention.com (identity and list growth). OuterSignal plus Monocle appears to differentiate by explicitly splitting "intelligence" from "agentic action," then recombining them into a single stack. That is a different posture than traditional ESP-first approaches, where data enrichment is often secondary to messaging workflows. The risk is also clear: incumbents already sit on message delivery, templates, and deep integrations, so the combined product needs tight activation loops and strong ROI proof to displace established systems. It also matters that both companies reference ecosystem partnerships (for example, Shopify, Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, and Sailthru appear as integrations or partnerships in the category). In this environment, winning can mean being the orchestration layer that complements existing tools, not replacing them on day one. What marketers should evaluate post-acquisition. Marketing leaders evaluating the combined platform should pressure-test a few specifics: * Data quality and identity coverage: enrichment is only valuable if it improves match rates and reduces "unknown" profiles without creating false positives. * Control and governance: what guardrails exist for discounts, frequency, and brand safety, and how easy is it to audit agent decisions. * Incrementality measurement: ensure tests distinguish "better targeting" from "just more discounting," especially for lifecycle channels that can cannibalize organic repeat purchases. * Integration realism: ask which integrations are live today versus "planned," and what the implementation timeline looks like for a unified workflow. * Channel strategy: if the agent optimizes across email, SMS, and onsite, define how conflicts are resolved (for example, SMS stealing conversions that email would have captured). For brands already running complex flows, the near-term value may be reducing manual operations and improving relevance. The longer-term question is whether "autonomous lifecycle" becomes a standard expectation, forcing vendors to compete on decision quality, data freshness, and measurable incrementality. OuterSignal acquires Monocle to build AI-powered 1:1 personalisation platform

OuterSignal, an agentic customer intelligence platform, has acquired Monocle, an AI-powered lifecycle marketing platform that replaces rules-based marketing flows with autonomous customer journeys across email, SMS and web. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition combines OuterSignal's customer data platform, which uses AI agents to analyse publicly available data for personalisation, with Monocle's AI agents that optimise marketing timing, offers and channels for individual customers. The unified platform aims to deliver one-to-one personalisation by identifying customer preferences and activating targeted messaging. Existing Monocle customers will continue using the product without disruption, with OuterSignal handling account management immediately. Deeper platform integration is planned over time. Both companies are venture-backed and serve ecommerce and direct-to-consumer brands.
