Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or financial reporting experience, with ownership of complex reporting, audit, or technical accounting matters is required.
  • Prior people-management and project-leadership experience, including coaching staff, managing priorities, and driving accountability, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and financial reporting requirements is required, including researching, documenting, and communicating technical accounting conclusions.
  • Experience in a public-company, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting, or complex private-company reporting environment is required.
  • Technical and analytical accounting experience is required, including consolidations, complex corporate and legal-entity structures, equity and investment accounting, debt and financing arrangements, business combinations or asset acquisitions, leases, impairment, and other complex accounting areas.
  • The ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines while preparing complete analyses, reconciliations, technical documentation, and special projects is required.
  • The ability to independently drive projects from issue identification through resolution is required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required, including the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders, resolve issues collaboratively, and support cross-functional business partners.
  • Current authorization to work for any employer in the United States on a full-time basis without employment visa sponsorship is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the quarterly and annual external reporting process, including preparing and reviewing financial statements, footnotes, management discussion and analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Operations, and other functions to ensure reporting packages are complete, accurate, supported, and aligned with underlying business activity.
  • Manage key audit deliverables, coordinate with external auditors, resolve audit questions, and ensure supporting documentation is prepared, reviewed, and retained.
  • Lead the evaluation of complex accounting matters by researching applicable guidance, preparing technical accounting memoranda, concluding on appropriate treatment, supporting implementation, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
  • Monitor and implement new accounting standards, including Financial Accounting Standards Board accounting standards updates, and assess their impact.
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement process improvements that strengthen reporting timelines, documentation standards, review controls, quality of work, and scalability.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly close process by reviewing consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, equity accounting, and reporting schedules.
  • Support special projects, management reporting requests, and ad hoc analyses related to operating results, entity activity, and accounting process improvements.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, project-based, asset-intensive, renewable-energy, infrastructure, or complex private-company reporting environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Office 365, consolidation tools, and financial reporting tools such as Workiva is preferred.
