Requirements
  • Hold a current, unencumbered Ohio license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Lift, transfer, push, or pull residents, patients, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Maintain on-call availability 24/7 for emergencies.
Responsibilities
  • Direct daily nursing activities and assign work to Nursing Assistants in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, guidelines, and facility standards.
  • Coordinate nursing services to ensure continuity of resident care.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and nursing standards of practice.
  • Represent the nursing department in Interdisciplinary Care Plan meetings and answer questions about care plans and service delivery.
  • Participate in committee meetings, employee meetings, departmental meetings, and scheduled in-service training.
  • Meet regularly with Nursing Assistants to identify and correct problem areas and improve care and services.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed.
  • Consult with residents' physicians regarding care, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Notify residents' physicians and families of changes in residents' conditions.
  • Authorize and monitor the use of restraints according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients as necessary.
  • Work with the Unit Manager to help reduce hospital readmissions.
  • Ensure nursing procedures are followed and reflect the facility's day-to-day nursing practices.
  • Participate in maintaining and implementing the facility's quality assurance program.
  • Ensure nursing staff follow procedures for administering, storing, and controlling medications and supplies.
  • Ensure resident rooms, treatment areas, work areas, and equipment remain clean, sanitary, and safe.
  • Supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
  • Interview, select, and orient new direct reports.
  • Establish and promote performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Evaluate direct reports' job performance and provide developmental guidance.
  • Monitor employee accountability and work with Human Resources on documentation and intervention when needed.
  • Participate in developing, planning, scheduling, conducting, and monitoring in-service, on-the-job training, and orientation programs.
  • Ensure adequate staffing plans for absences and vacancies among direct reports.
  • Respond to departmental staff questions, requests, and work product submitted for review and approval.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
  • Supervisory experience in a long-term care, hospital, or other related healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Ability to work with residents or patients affected by various disease processes and potential exposure to infectious waste and bloodborne diseases.
  • Occasional travel and overnight travel availability.

Zachary Mills has been named executive director of Ohio Living Sarah Moore, Delaware, OH. In his new role, he will oversee campus operations, including staff engagement, resident and family communications, support for the local advisory board, and financial management. Mills brings more than 13 years of leadership experience as an administrator and executive director at senior living communities throughout Central Ohio. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and earned a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University. Mills' background includes experience in process improvement, quality outcomes, relationship-building, workforce stabilization, and staff retention. Kyle Ozimkiewicz advances to executive director role at The Philadelphia Protestant Home. Kyle Ozimkiewicz was named executive director of The Philadelphia Protestant Home (PPH), Philadelphia, PA.
