Requirements
  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the practicing state is required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • The ability to demonstrate compassion when working with residents is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by certified nursing assistants.
  • Direct the daily activities of certified nursing assistants and resident care associates in accordance with applicable regulations and facility policies and procedures.
  • Follow the nursing model to promote holistic care for residents.
  • Ensure that nursing personnel comply with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Assess changes in residents’ status, notify the physician and the resident’s family or representative, and document accordingly.
  • Transcribe physician orders to the medical record and carry out orders as written.
  • Prepare and administer medications according to physicians’ orders and observe for adverse effects.
  • Perform wound treatments according to physicians’ orders and document changes as indicated.
  • Schedule resident follow-up appointments and transportation needs.
  • Provide nursing leadership to nursing personnel assigned to the unit.
  • Provide direct care including colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and intravenous administration.
  • Perform rounds to ensure resident needs are met and personnel perform their assigned duties.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure residents’ needs are holistically met.
  • Report incidents or unusual occurrences to the community’s leadership team.
  • Ensure adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment, and notify appropriate personnel of needs.
  • Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
  • Participate in inspection survey processes when they arise.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities as needed or assigned.
  • Ensure infection control principles are followed and help correct identified practice deficiencies.
  • Report allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to the supervisor or administrator.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and their updates.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in geriatrics is preferred.
